Broome, often called the pearl of North West Australia, is Western Australia’s entry point to the stunning Kimberley wilderness. It’s known for Cable Beach’s famous white sands, making it a top holiday spot in the State. Broome sits 2,240 km (1,390 mi) north of Perth, with a permanent population of around 14,436 that swells to over 45,000 during tourist season.
The 800 islands of the Dampier Archipelago, stretching from the Dampier Peninsula to the southern edge of Collier Bay, and the nearby mainland, offer tons of unique experiences, perfect for exploring by a small expedition motor yacht. Named after the English buccaneer William Dampier, this archipelago is considered one of Australia’s most stunning island groups. Some islands are recognized as Important Bird Areas by Birdlife International, while others host Western Australia’s largest population of breeding Green Sea turtles. The pristine coastlines feature secluded white sandy beaches, mangrove estuaries, and striking landscapes that give insight into the region’s geological history.
The area is well-known for popular spots like The Lacepede Islands, Yampi Sound, Adele Island, and Cape Leveque.
With Paspaley Pearl, you can also reach spots that larger boats can’t, such as Hidden Island, Whirlpool Pass, Sunday Island, Strickland Bay, Tallon Island, Hell’s Gate, Edeline, and Cascade Bay.
Located in one of the most remote parts of Australia, with no road access and the nearest town over 250 kilometers away, Collier Bay and Camden Sound are known for their rugged beauty and the second-largest tides in the world. These massive tides have shaped the ancient landscape, creating unique phenomena like the Horizontal Falls (Garaanngaddim). The area holds cultural significance for the Dambeemangarddee, a saltwater people who have lived along this coast for thousands of years, with their culture deeply tied to these tidal movements. The rich marine environment includes Montgomery Reef (Yowjab), the world’s largest inshore reef system, and attracts the largest population of migrating humpback whales each year.
The region is known for iconic spots like Horizontal Falls (Garaanngaddim), Montgomery Reef (Yowjab), Raft Point (Ngumbree), and Freshwater Cove (Wijingarra Bard Bard).
With Paspaley Pearl, you can also access places that larger boats can’t, including Sampson Inlet, Hall Point, Red Cone Creek, Sapphire Falls, Ruby Falls, Sale River, Walcott Inlet, Prior Point, and Langgi.
Day 6-8: Bonaparte Archipelago | Kuri Bay Pearling Experience
The Bonaparte Archipelago is a maze of islands and islets stretching 150 kilometers offshore from Collier Bay to the Admiralty Gulf, known for its rich collection of Rock Art galleries. These remarkable artworks, created by First Nations peoples, offer insight into the oldest continuing culture on earth. The mainland features some of the most scenic parts of the Kimberley coast, with Prince Frederick Harbour and the Roe-Hunter River System lined with ancient rainforest pockets, pristine mangroves, and sandstone cliffs. Nearby, Prince Regent National Park is one of Australia’s key conservation sites, known for its stunning scenery and home to half of the known bird and animal species in the Kimberley. Located 370 km north of Broome and 460 km west of Kununurra, Kuri Bay sits at the heart of the Lalang-Garram/Camden Sound Marine Park. It was the site of Australia’s first cultured pearl farm and is named after the company’s first principal, Tokuichi Kuribayashi. Today, the clear, pristine waters are home to Paspaley, the world’s leading producer of cultured pearls. The superior quality of these gems is so widely recognized that they are simply known as ‘Paspaley Pearls.’ You can experience a behind-the-scenes guided walking tour of the Paspaley facilities and see the intricate processes involved in producing the world’s most beautiful pearls.
Renowned for its incredible gorges and waterfalls that have carved into the sandstone escarpment over the past 20 million years, the North Kimberley coast offers scenery on an epic scale. The weathered ancient sandstones create a stunning color palette that contrasts with the azure waters of the Timor Sea, offering picture-perfect views. The red and orange hues of the sandstone shift with the light throughout the day, creating a constantly changing backdrop that's truly breathtaking. The region is rich with stories of survival and epic treks across vast, harsh landscapes. Despite the seemingly inhospitable environment, the Wunambal Gaambera and Balanggarra peoples have lived here for thousands of years, and their traditions are reflected in the rock art that forms the world’s largest collection of outdoor galleries.
The region is known for iconic spots like King George Falls (Oomari), Vansittart Bay (Banjal), and Jar Island (Ngula).
With Paspaley Pearl, you also gain access to places that larger vessels can’t reach, including Cape Voltaire, Freshwater Bay, Drysdale River, Glycosmis Bay and Falls, Cape Bernier, Seaplane Bay, Berkeley River, and Casuarina Falls.
Day 11: Wyndham, Western Australia | Disembarkation
1 Breakfast
Wyndham, the northernmost town in Western Australia, serves as a gateway to the Kimberley region. It’s surrounded by some of the most stunning landforms, rivers, and wetlands in the Kimberley. About 100 kilometers south is the town of Kununurra, established in 1961 to support the Ord River Irrigation Scheme. Located in the heart of Miriwoong country, Kununurra gets its name from the Miriwoong word “Goonoonoorrang,” which means big water.
Note: The departure on 17 September 2025 disembarks in Darwin.

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
Plans were described and booked with efficiency and speed. Adventure LIfe is outstanding in travel planning.
