Day 1: Hobart | Embark

Check in by 4:00 pm, board Coral Discoverer, and get oriented in your stateroom. Tour onboard amenities, then meet the captain and expedition team on deck for welcome drinks as the ship departs Hobart at 5:00 pm.

Day 2-7: Exploring Tasmania's Southern Coast

Port Davey
Explore Tasmania’s remote southwest at Port Davey, part of a World Heritage–listed landscape of mountains and calm inlets. Navigate the exposed coastline by ship, paddle protected bays, and trek Mount Beattie or Mount Milner for elevated views. Step ashore at Melaleuca Inlet, follow the Needwonee boardwalk, and watch for endangered orange-bellied parrots.

Adventure Bay – South Bruny Island
Walk along South Bruny Island’s Fluted Cape and observe Bennett’s wallabies among steep dolerite headlands. Visit Adventure Bay to examine remnants of historic whaling operations and follow coastal paths leading toward Grass Point.

Maria Island
Move through Maria Island’s wildlife refuge, home to wombats, pademelons, Cape Barren geese, and Forester kangaroos. Wander the preserved Darlington convict settlement, then view the Painted Cliffs or choose the Fossil Cliffs route or Reservoir Circuit.

Freycinet National Park
Hike the well-known trail overlooking Wineglass Bay and access its curved white-sand shoreline. Travel through the granite Hazards, identify native plant and animal species, and swim in sheltered waters. Sail past Schouten Island and along Freycinet’s ancient pink granite coastline.

Port Arthur & Fortescue Bay
Tour the World Heritage–listed Port Arthur Historic Site with specialist guides. Continue to Fortescue Bay when conditions permit, tackling the Cape Hauy Track or entering clear coastal waters. Take in high sea cliffs while learning about Tasmania’s convict history and maritime heritage.

Day 8: Hobart | Disembark

  • 1 Breakfast
The Tasmania adventure concludes in Hobart this morning as you bid farewell to new-found friends, the Master and crew, disembarking at 8:00am. A complimentary transfer is provided to CBD hotels, or the airport is included.

The trip might have been the absolute best of our lifetime (thus far). We particularly want to commend our guide Peter in the Guilin area-he was so incredibly attentive, energetic, enthusiastic-and absolutely dedicated to ensuring that our meals were 100% vegetarian.
