Lizard Island Resort

Lizard Island Resort is the northernmost resort on the Great Barrier Reef. Its rooms, suites, and villas sit within a 1,013 ha (2,503 acre) national park that has 24 white sand beaches. The island is the traditional land of the Dingaal Aboriginal people, who call it Jiigurru, and it holds their ceremonial and story sites. Captain James Cook named the island in 1770 and climbed its summit, now called Cook's Look, to find a route through the reef. The island became a national park in 1937, and the surrounding waters became a marine park in 1974. The Lizard Island Research Station, a coral reef research facility run by the Australian Museum, operates on the island. The resort is a Relais & Chateaux member. It sources about 90% of its food and beverage locally and recycles or reuses about 60% of its operational waste.

The resort offers rooms, suites, and villas across eight categories, from garden rooms to clifftop and ridge villas with ocean views, plus a three-bedroom private house. All feature air conditioning, Wi-Fi, private decks or balconies, minibars, premium bath products, and beach essentials.

Stays are all-inclusive, covering daily meals, non-alcoholic drinks, and selected wines, beer, spirits, Champagne, and cocktails. Facilities include Salt Water Restaurant, two bars, Essentia Spa, freshwater pool, gym, and tennis court. Complimentary activities include motorised dinghies, paddleboards, clear-view kayaks, and snorkeling gear. Guests can also hike to Cook’s Look independently. The resort welcomes guests aged 10 and over.
