Your adventure begins early in Launceston, with pick-ups at 7:15 am from the Grand Chancellor or 7:30 am from the Penny Royal. From there, travel to Bridport Airport for a scenic morning flight to Flinders Island.
On arrival, head to the seaside at Allports in the town of Emita, where your guides provide a detailed briefing for the week ahead. The journey starts with a coastal walk to one of the island’s most iconic landmarks, Castle Rock, a towering three-story granite boulder standing guard over the rugged shoreline. In the afternoon, visit the intriguing volunteer-run Furneaux Museum, which is rich in local history and culture. Then continue north to Leeka and settle into your private seaside Eco-Comfort Camp, your base for the week.

Day 2: Mt. Killiecrankie Walk | Old Mans head and The Docks
Fuel up with a hearty breakfast at camp before a short drive to the base of Mt. Killiecrankie. Begin a moderately challenging climb to its summit, where sweeping views stretch across the bay and rugged coast. Descend via the Diamond Gully Trail, navigating rocks and scrub as you make your way toward Stacky’s Bight, known for its striking rock formations and crystal-clear waters, perfect for a swim or a quiet lunch spot.
In the afternoon, follow coastal tracks and granite outcrops toward The Docks, a secluded gem where lichen-covered boulders and sheer cliffs drop dramatically to the sea. After a short walk to your vehicle, return to camp, where your guides prepare dinner as you relax and reflect on the day’s adventures.

Begin the day with a drive to North East River, the island’s northernmost point and a wild, windswept showcase of Flinders Island’s untamed beauty. Walk along the remote coastline, traversing the striking Palana dunes with sweeping views toward the Sister Islands. Discover rock pools and weathered granite outcrops, pausing to soak in the solitude and raw coastal atmosphere.
Continue to the small settlement of Palana, where you can opt for a refreshing swim before returning to camp for a relaxing evening.

Day 4: Walkers Lookout | Haulands Gap and Red Bluff | Wybalenna
Head inland to Walkers Lookout for sweeping views over the Darling Range, then follow the Haulands Gap Track through peppermint-scented eucalyptus forest, with vistas stretching to both the east and west coasts.
Continue to the east coast for a gentle walk from Patriarch Inlet to the striking Red Bluff. If time allows, visit the Patriarchs Wildlife Sanctuary to see native wildlife up close before stopping at Wybalenna, a historic and sobering site of the island’s Indigenous resettlement scheme, with its old chapel and graveyard.

Rise early to tackle the island’s most iconic peak, Mt. Strzelecki. On clear days, sweeping views reveal Flinders Island, the surrounding islets, and even Tasmania’s northern coast.
Enjoy a summit lunch before descending the mountain. Cap off the day with a refreshing swim at Fotheringate Bay before returning to camp for your final night on the island.

Day 6: Trousers Point Walk | Unavale Vineyard | Return flight to Bridport | Launceston

Savor your final morning on Flinders Island with a relaxed beach stroll before leaving camp. Stop in Whitemark for a hot drink and a chat with locals, then transfer to Big River Road to begin the short coastal hike to Trousers Point. This Great Short Walk offers sweeping views from the beach to the flanks of Mt. Strzelecki, with the chance to wade in calm waters before returning to the vehicle.
Continue to Unavale Vineyard, a family-run estate crafting cool-climate wines from sustainably grown grapes. Enjoy a private tour, tasting, and a ploughman’s-style lunch among the vines, the perfect finale to your island adventure. After lunch, transfer to the airport for a scenic flight to Bridport in the afternoon, then continue to Launceston, arriving around 5:00 PM.

This was our first trip to South America and we were a little nervous. But Adventure Life made things so easy! All our questions were answered before we left, and our guide, Vidal, was amazing!
