Belmond Eagle Island Lodge

Eagle Island Lodge sits on Xaxaba Island in the Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in northern Botswana. The island was the site of the Delta’s first permanent safari camp in the early 1900s. The lodge is small, with 12 tented rooms, and offers safari activities on land, on the water, and in the air. Rates are all-inclusive. They cover accommodation, meals, all drinks including selected branded spirits and wines, daily laundry, at least two game viewing activities per day, and park fees. Guests arrive by light aircraft at the lodge’s private airstrip, which also has a helipad, and a guide meets them for the short transfer to the lodge. 

Rooms & Suites
There are tented rooms, each 82 sq m (882 sq ft) and each for up to two adults. Every room has a king-size bed with a hand-crafted copper headboard, a private deck with a plunge pool, and a shaded veranda with seating. Rooms have air conditioning, a desk, and a fully stocked minibar. The en-suite bathroom has an indoor shower, a bathtub, and a walled outdoor shower with views over the Delta. Wi-Fi is complimentary, although the connection may be limited by the remote location.

Hotel Amenities & Facilities
The lodge has one restaurant and one bar. The restaurant serves international and local dishes with a focus on Setswana cooking. Lunch is light, with salads before the afternoon game drive, and dinner is a three-course à la carte menu built around Botswana ingredients. Meals are served in the open or on a covered terrace. The Fish-Eagle Bar is an open-sided thatched deck overlooking the grasslands. Other dining options include in-room dining, bush lunches beneath a baobab tree, picnics, candlelit terrace dinners, and private dining on a barge. Four meals are served daily, and the kitchen can accommodate special dietary requirements noted at booking. The Wellness Pod offers spa treatments that use local ingredients, along with creative wellness sessions such as sketching. Guests also have access to a boutique, a library, a TV lounge, exercise equipment and yoga mats, and children’s amenities. Daily laundry is included. Early check-in and late check-out are complimentary, subject to availability.
