Day 1: Arrive in Yellowknife | Fly to Blachford Lodge

Blachford Lodge, located in the Canadian wilderness, is known for its Aurora Borealis viewing opportunities, sustainable practices, and commitment to environmental conservation. The lodge offers a range of activities, comfortable accommodations, and amenities while promoting eco-friendly initiatives like energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, and low carbon footprint strategies. Enjoy a peaceful retreat in nature while participating in outdoor adventures and experiencing the beauty of the Northern Lights.

Your journey today begins in Yellowknife, from where you take a spectacular 30-minute morning bush plane flight to Blachford Lodge. We recommend arriving in Yellowknife at least one day before the start of your Blachford adventure to ensure you do not miss this charter flight. Upon arrival, friendly lodge staff greet you and provide an orientation of the facilities and scheduled activities. Settle into your cozy room or private cabin and freshen up.

Enjoy a gourmet welcome dinner featuring locally sourced ingredients and regional specialties. After dinner, spend your first night viewing the Aurora from the deck or various vantage points around the lodge.

Your next few days at the lodge may vary from the listed sample itinerary below. You will have the opportunity to select your preferred activities daily. 

Day 2: Exploring Blachford Lodge

Set out on a two-hour guided hike to explore the local flora, crossing beaver dams and spotting wildlife such as loons and eagles.

Spend your afternoon enjoying complimentary activities like canoeing, kayaking, or paddleboarding on the calm waters of Blachford Lake. Alternatively, take a mountain bike ride through the scenic trails or explore the terrain on foot.

Savor another dinner, followed by an evening display of the Northern Lights that you capture with your camera.

Blachford Lodge offers a variety of outdoor excursions that immerse you in the breathtaking beauty of the Canadian wilderness. Day 3: Blachford Lodge Adventure Activities

Participate in a three-hour cultural workshop highlighting the traditions and history of the Indigenous peoples of the Northwest Territories. Learn traditional crafts, hear stories, and appreciate their connection to the land.

In the afternoon, try your hand at fishing with the provided equipment and guidance for a couple of hours. Then unwind in the lodge's sauna.

After dinner, prepare for another night beneath the Aurora Borealis from a strategic viewing location.

Day 4: Blachford Lodge Adventure Activities

On your final full day, enjoy your time at your own pace. Engage in a favorite activity or try something new, like a craft session or a meditative yoga class to unwind.

Relax back at the lodge in the afternoon and enjoy an hour-long hot stone massage. As always, another delicious dinner and a potential display of the Northern Lights cap off your night.

Day 5: Fly to Yellowknife | Return Home

The next morning, enjoy a hearty breakfast, pack your belongings, and say goodbye to Blachford Lodge. Board your charter plane for the scenic flight back to Yellowknife, taking with you memories of your Autumn Aurora adventure.
