This ice-strengthened vessel has been cruising the oceans of the world since 1976, but was renovated in 2004 and completely refitted in 2009. Originally built for oceanic research for the Dutch Royal Navy, it now serves as a 112-passenger expedition ship in the polar regions.
The main focus of cruises aboard the Plancius is educational exploration, with the goal of having as much time ashore as possible. While not among the most luxurious boats that cruise the polar waters, guests do enjoy comfortable accommodations and great food in the company of an international crew and friendly guides.
Several social and dining areas and various classes of cabins offer a great, warm place to recharge your energy after a fun day of Antarctic exploration out on the ice.

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
