Max Passengers: 96
Ship Type: Research Ship

The ice-strengthened Akademik Ioffe combines safety and comfort aboard a modern polar research vessel. The ship is well outfitted with various social spaces, including a bar & lounge, a library, and a dining room. The library features a variety of movies and documentaries about the Antarctic region, and the culinary team prepares delicious meals that will recharge your batteries after a long day of adventure, featuring a buffet breakfast and plated lunches and dinners. If you want a great spot to view wildlife or interesting perspectives from the captain and crew, the bridge and map room are open to the public 24-hours a day.

Comfort and Stability
Although it was built in Finland as a scientific research vessel, you will find that this boat balances stability and comfort, and has been recently refurbished to make it more expedition-friendly. The noise onboard is well managed by keeping the engines and machines away from the cabins and social areas.

Cabin Accommodations
There are several different cabins to choose from, including private or semi-private bathrooms and either double or bunk beds. All cabins face out to provide you with the best view of the fascinating Antarctic waters. Additionally, guests find that there is plenty of storage space and even a desk and chair. The gift basket upon arrival will make you feel spoiled.

Other facilities include the theatre style presentation room, gift-shop, fitness room, massage room, hot water spa, sauna and plunge pool. There’s also a dedicated expedition ‘mud-room’ where you prepare for your off-ship excursions.
