The Heritage Explorer is a New Zealand–built expedition yacht, purpose-designed to explore the country’s remote coastlines and hidden gems. At 30 metres with four decks, she carries just 18 guests, ensuring an intimate and personalized atmosphere. Built in 2004 by the renowned Carey family at Picton’s Carey’s Boatyard, she blends fine craftsmanship with modern comforts and innovative technology.

Heritage Explorer offers 10 well-appointed cabins across three decks, each with private en suite facilities and personal amenities. The contemporary wood-finished interiors create a warm and welcoming environment, complemented by a dining room with 180-degree panoramas, a lounge and bar featuring local wines and beers, and a well-stocked regional library.

Features onboard
Guests can enjoy wildlife spotting, sunrises, and sunsets from the covered Bridge Deck, or take advantage of kayaks, fishing equipment, and two tenders for deeper exploration. As with all Heritage Expeditions vessels, Heritage Explorer operates with an open-bridge policy, welcoming guests to engage with the captain and crew.

Powered by dual Scania 653hp engines, fin stabilisers, and advanced navigation systems, Heritage Explorer is designed for both comfort and capability. A professional chef showcases regional cuisine, often incorporating the day’s fresh catches, while the passionate expedition team ensures an immersive and unforgettable Kiwi adventure. With her small-group setting and New Zealand crew, Heritage Explorer offers a truly authentic, localised expedition experience.
