Max Passengers: 28
Ship Type: River Cruise Ship
Operated By: Pandaw

This was a radical new design, based on the old K class used in Burma from the 1880s on. This ship is the third Katha to run on the Irrawaddy. The first was built at Dalla in 1887 but was lost on the Chindwin in 1889. The second was built by Denny of Dumbarton in 1904 and decommissioned in 1937, and the third was built by us in Vietnam in 2012. Pandaw ran her for a year on the Mekong before sending her to Burma. With only two decks, these smaller K-class ships have a lower air draft, so they can get under bridges and supposedly a shallower draft, though in fact the Vietnam ship yards were not as successful in achieving this as the Burmese yards and later Burmese-built K-class ships achieved remarkable reductions in draft.

Cabin Specifications
The vessel features 12 tastefully designed staterooms—4 located on the Upper Deck and 8 on the Main Deck—each measuring approximately 170 square feet and finished in elegant teak and brass. Every cabin offers a panoramic French window for scenic river views and is equipped with individually controlled air conditioning to ensure optimal comfort. Guests can enjoy premium in-room amenities such as a Nespresso coffee machine, a minibar stocked with complimentary drinks, glass-bottled water, and expedition flasks. Each stateroom also includes spa-branded toiletries, an electric mini safe, kimonos and slippers, and imported quality linens with duvets and a choice of pillows. Premium mattresses ensure restful sleep, while multi-configuration plugs, a hair dryer, and a mirror add convenience. Nightly turndown service, 24-hour laundry service, yoga mats in every cabin, and complimentary evening canapés further enhance the comfort and luxury of the onboard stay.

Features Onboard
Onboard life combines culinary excellence with cultural enrichment. A local master chef leads an international culinary team serving semi-buffet breakfasts and lunches, followed by seated theme dinners. Guests can enjoy daily light and healthy menu options, along with complimentary local mineral water, coffee, teas, and tisanes. The ship’s extensive wine list features a selection of premium wines, while onboard activities include cultural performances, educational talks, cooking classes, and ship tours. Social events such as a welcome drink on arrival, themed dinners, a farewell reception, and a welcome cocktail further enhance the experience. Passengers can relax in the open-air lounge and bar or enjoy 24-hour refreshments at the hospitality bar. The onboard bakery provides freshly baked bread and rolls daily, ensuring a delightful dining experience throughout the voyage.

The ship’s public areas are designed to provide comfort and leisure, featuring a guest relations desk for personalized assistance and a fair-trade shop supporting local artisans. A library stocked with contemporary and classic literature offers guests a peaceful space to unwind and enjoy quiet moments while admiring the passing scenery.

Safety remains a top priority on board. All crew members are professionally trained and certified under international marine standards. Fire alarm and firefighting systems are installed throughout all cabins and public areas, ensuring full coverage and passenger safety. The ship’s operations are overseen by an expert marine superintendent, and a 24-hour watch is maintained at all times for continuous monitoring and peace of mind.
