Welcome to a beautiful, traditional late nineteenth century Hacienda Uzhupud, located in the Andes in southern Ecuador, near the city of Cuenca, at 2219 meters above sea level. The beautiful infrastructure, the majestic natural surroundings and the delightful subtropical climate make this place full of history and tradition, the perfect space for a pleasant stay. You will find spacious trees and beautiful gardens. Experience farm life at large in Hacienda Uzhupud.

Being in Uzhupud is like beginning a journey back in time to experience life in a southern Andean Hacienda in Ecuador. Upon arrival, you will enjoy the warmth of a beautiful old fireplace, enjoy delicious traditional drinks and relax in a comfortable room, surrounded by beautiful hand-painted murals.

The highly professional team of the Hacienda Uzhupud will assist you in every moment of you stay. Their goal is to make your visit an unforgettable experience and have you back soon.

Hacienda Experiences
Guests arriving at Hacienda Uzhupud will encounter a small village with architecture that resembles the old country houses of the southern Ecuadorian Andean region. The cobbled stone sidewalks and streets that exist all over the Hacienda will take you through terraces and gardens, naturally shaded by ancient trees.

In these areas you can share the magic of a wood fired oven, when tasting some homemade bread and pizza. Nearby, your family can enjoy a show at the puppet's theater, try some sugar cane juice squeezed in the old Hacienda's Trapiche, or join other guests to watch a magnificent Noche Pauteña, with fireworks.

The hacienda also offers other areas such as a discotheque, an organic kitchen garden, a small pond for pedal boats, a temperate swimming pool, sauna, steam bath, and a good selection of fast food at the Snack bar.

Accommodations
Warm republican style rooms are located around the Plaza of the Hacienda Village. Each room has a private bath, cable TV, Wi-Fi Internet and telephone service. All rooms include a complimentary American or light breakfast.

Restaurant Dona Eulalia
the Restaurant “Doña Eulalia” named in honor of Doña Eulalia Vintimilla de Crespo, former owner of the Hacienda Uzhupud, offers a true gastronomic experience, where skilled chefs prepare delicious Ecuadorian and international recipes. Taste their specialty dishes, a fascinating modern fusion of flavors based on traditional recipes by Hacienda Uzhupud.

Activities from Hosteria Uzhupud
All guests can enjoy complementary use of the spacious swimming pool, sauna and Turkish baths, tennis court, home cinema, football, volleyball, table tennis or football pin. Guests are also welcome to reserve additional activites such as massage, horseback riding, pedal boats, and billiards at additional cost.

Visit picturesque sites located near Hacienda Uzhupud such as Gualaceo with its Andean market, Chordeleg with her jewelry and crafts, Sisgsig to learn how to weave straw hats (Panama Hats), the archaeological complex of Ingapirca and Cojitambo, and the beautiful city of Cuenca.

Located in the Paute Valley
The fertile valley Paute is one of the ancient sacred sites of the Cañaris, located just 35 minutes from the beautiful city of Cuenca. It is bathed by the waters of Paute river, hence its name. It lies between 2.200 and 2.280 meters of altitude above sea level and with an average temperature of 16 Celsius degrees has a stunning natural setting: Andean mountains, a rich biodiversity with many species of eucalyptus, willow, alder, sugar cane, alfalfa, flowers and fruit trees. The majestic Paute river, whose flow moves the turbines of the Ecuador Paute Project hydroelectric complex, passes through Uzhupud, en route to the giant Amazon river.
