The forest at night reveals a different facet of biodiversity, with various species adapted to live in low-light conditions. Many birds become active at night, utilizing their enhanced senses of hearing and sight to navigate the dark and hunt for prey. At night, the opportunity arises to observe species such as the great potoo, the crested owl, or the tawny-bellied screech owl. After dinner, wrap up the day with a bird checklist session, sharing highlights from your rainforest exploration.
Start the day with breakfast, fueling up for an exciting birding adventure. At 06:45, visit the Yasuní Parrot Lick to observe vibrant parrots in action. Continue to the Macaw Tree and the River Islands, spotting diverse bird species. From 10:20 to 13:00, experience the Yasuní Macaw Lick, where colorful macaws gather.

After breakfast in the morning, set out for an amazing journey to Kapok Tower, a platform constructed atop the tallest branches of a massive kapok tree. This tower is 135 ft high and presents incredible birding opportunities to spot opal-crowned tanagers, chestnut-eared aracari, or the gilded barbet. Enjoy breathtaking views and spot treetop wildlife until noon. Return to the lodge for a buffet lunch. In the afternoon, venture on a walking excursion, exploring the rainforest’s hidden wonders.

Day 5: Return Home | Back to Quito

Begin your final day with an early breakfast. In the morning, set out on a scenic journey back to Coca, taking in the last sights of the rainforest along the way. From there, continue your trip back to Quito, arriving at noontime.

This was our first trip to South America and we were a little nervous. But Adventure Life made things so easy! All our questions were answered before we left, and our guide, Vidal, was amazing! He gave us enough space to explore without rushing us along. He also knew where the best picture taking opportunities were, which was great.
