One day geographical and cultural tour. Drive to Calderón, a small village about 10 km. north-east of Quito. Calderón is a famous center for a unique Ecuadorian folk art. Here the native people make attractive decorations from dough. We'll continue to Guachala, a community transected by the equator, and pass through Cayambe on the way. Arriving in Otavalo we'll visit the famous Indian Market which dates back to pre-Inca times. Finally we'll visit Cotacachi, which has good leather shopping opportunities, and Cuicocha - the ancient eroded volcanic crater, famous for its deep lake found within. Views of the lake and surrounding mountains are excellent when the weather is good.
This tour runs daily, but we recommend arranging it on a Saturday.

The trip was terrific with great planning on your part. Most of the adventures were not mainstream and somewhat off the beaten path which made it especially enjoyable!! We felt taken care of and you all were readily available to respond to questions and issues. I would highly recommend your company and friends have already expressed interest based on our pictures and excitement.
