Breathtaking scenery from the world's highest active volcano. After an early morning drive east towards the Chillos Valley, head south, along the "Avenue of the Volcanoes", viewing the spectacular and breathtaking high plains surrounding the magnificent snow-capped Cotopaxi - the earth's highest active volcano (19347ft/5897m), with possibilities of seeing the Andean Condor. After lunch in the Limpiopungo valley (12540ft/3800m) ascend to El Parqueadero (15180ft/4600m). From this point you'll hike for about an hour to El Refugio, the volcano's refuge lodge (15840ft/4800m). A short walk from here will take you to the nearest glacier.
In the afternoon, travel to the quiet village of Pujili where you have the opportunity to purchase local goods, including a variety of fine ceramic fold art.
This tour operates on Wednesdays only.

This was my first experience with Adventure Life - and I couldn't have been more pleased with the trip. The guides and local staff in both Buenos Aires and Uruguay were terrific - extremely helpful and accommodating. I really enjoyed meeting the friendly staff in Buenos Aires in person (I left my bags with them for the afternoon).
