Board the MS Modigliani at 6 p.m. in Strasbourg. Settle in your cabin and meet the ship's crew at a welcome cocktail. After dinner your hostess leads you to the dance floor for an evening of Alsatian fun!
Today get off the ship for an excursion through the Potter Villages with your host/hostess. Discover Betschdorf and Soufflenheim, the birthplaces of pottery in Alsace. Learn about decoration, glazing and baking techniques handed down generation after generation. Soufflenheim has colorful pottery in yellow, blue, green and brown which is mainly used for cooking. The pottery of Betschdorf is bluish-gray and decorated with cobalt blue and is primarily used for storage of foods. Return onboard and cruise towards Breisach. Tonight’s evening has an Alsatian theme, with traditional choucroute garni on the menu. Arrive in Breisach during the evening.
This morning enjoy a visit to Colmar, the capital of Alsatian wines. Discover this simply charming city with a remarkable history and unique sites: colorful, half-timbered houses, “Little Venice”, the historic center—as well as its famous residents, including Bartholdi, who designed the Statue of Liberty, and Jean-Jacques Waltz (aka Hansi), the most famous Alsatian illustrator. In the afternoon, leave by coach with your host/hostess for the Ecomusée d’Alsace in Ungersheim. Here a guided tour allows you to have a better understanding of the arts and traditions of Alsace. Return on board for an evening of dancing in the lounge.
Day 4: The Wine Route | Mont Sainte-odile | Obernai
Today join a coach trip along the Alsatian Wine Route, lined with picturesque villages. Enjoy a visit to a wine cellar and taste some of the local wines. In the afternoon, visit Mont Sainte-Odile. Located at over 2,500 feet high, this site encompassing the Hohenburg Abbey offers an impressive panoramic view of the Alsatian plains. Afterwards, enjoy a trip to Obernai. This ancient medieval city has retained all of its charm and you can explore its ramparts, fortifications, half-timbered houses and cobblestone streets. Then go back on the ship for a gala evening.

This was my first experience with Adventure Life - and I couldn't have been more pleased with the trip. The guides and local staff in both Buenos Aires and Uruguay were terrific - extremely helpful and accommodating. I really enjoyed meeting the friendly staff in Buenos Aires in person (I left my bags with them for the afternoon).

Adventure Life has been an extraordinary travel resource for us over the years and today was no exception. Our River Cruise booking was handled by Jess (who has been our personal trip planner for several years) the same day as our inquiry. Suggestions were given for cabin choice and pre-trip options (that were not shown on the cruise line's website) like airport transfers and prepaid gratuities. Trip insurance recommendations followed and we were assigned a travel co-ordinator till the end of the tour. All we have to do is show up! Great service from friendly folks.

Our travel was flawless! The rider pickup (airport, hotel, ship) was seamless. Jane's recommendation for Emerald Cruise Sakara was everything I wanted but the experience was soooo much more. Adventure Life took care of each and every detail and this was the easiest of all my travels.
