Settle into an elegant 18th-century mansion tucked away on a quiet street, offering a peaceful yet perfectly positioned base for exploring the city. This refined hotel blends historic charm with modern comfort, ideal for leisurely discovery.

In the evening, experience Bordeaux by night as the city’s landmarks glow under the lights. Along the way, discover top spots for food and drink, then cap off the evening at a stylish bar. Savor a tasting of French charcuterie or Lebanese mezze (your choice) paired with a glass of Bordeaux wine. Come hungry—this evening walk is as flavorful as it is magical.

Day 2: Saint-Emilion Wine Tour | Choose your Adventure Day

After breakfast, travel to the UNESCO-listed Saint-Émilion to discover its wine traditions and history and visit the world-famous estates. Today, discover Saint-Émilion with the option to choose from an e-bike tour with lunch & château visits or opt for a morning wine tasting tour to Saint-Émilion and an afternoon walking tour through the flavors of Bordeaux.

Option 1: Saint-Émilion E-Bike Tour with Lunch & vineyard visits Full day tour
Leave Bordeaux by minivan with your expert guide and head into the heart of Saint-Émilion wine country. Hop on an e-bike for a scenic 15km ride past legendary estates like Petrus and Cheval Blanc. Stop at a family-run château for a cellar tour and garden picnic lunch, then explore the medieval village on foot. In the afternoon, cycle to a prestigious Classified Growth estate for a second tasting before returning to Bordeaux by evening—energized, enriched, and fully indulged.

OR

Option 2: Half day Morning wine-tasting tour to Saint-Emilion and Afternoon Gastronomic Walking Tour
Meet your expert guide at the Bordeaux Tourist Office and journey by minivan to the legendary village of Saint-Émilion. Wander its medieval streets, then visit a top château for a tour of the barrel hall and a guided wine tasting paired with artisanal chocolate. Sample wines from Pomerol, Fronsac, and Lussac, gaining insight into Bordeaux’s diverse terroirs. With a small group of just 8 guests, this is an intimate and flavorful deep dive into one of France’s most iconic wine regions.

In the afternoon, dive into Bordeaux’s historic center on a private sweet and savory walking tour led by a local food expert. Stroll past UNESCO landmarks like Place des Quinconces and Saint-André Cathedral while tasting regional delights—foie gras, duck specialties, artisan cheeses, chocolates, pastries, and the iconic canelé. Meet passionate producers, sip local wines, and enjoy surprise treats along the way. A flavorful journey through Bordeaux’s rich culinary heritage.

Day 3: Sailing Arcachon Bay

Take a 50-minute train from Bordeaux to Arcachon (tickets available upon request), then stroll five minutes to the port for an unforgettable outing aboard a traditional 'pinasse.' Originally used for fishing and oyster farming, these elegant, flat-bottomed boats are now reimagined for comfort and exploration.
Glide across the bay on a stable, spacious craft featuring plush seating, an open bow cabin, a sun awning, and a swim ladder. Whether basking in the sun or sheltering from the breeze, enjoy a scenic and relaxed cruise through the iconic waters of Arcachon Bay.

With your expert captain at the helm, cruise to the mysterious Île aux Oiseaux (Bird Island) and its iconic Cabanes Tchanquées, wooden stilt houses rising from the shifting tides. This unique island vanishes and reappears with the Atlantic’s rhythm, revealing up to 16 km at low tide. Sail past charming oyster-farming villages and enjoy an onboard tasting of fresh oysters from the day’s harvest or a local aperitif. Learn how to shuck like a pro and match crisp white wine from the area with oysters. For a fuller meal, opt for a picnic lunch from the boat’s curated menu, perfectly enjoyed with sea views and an ocean breeze.

Day 4: Sarlat-la-Canéda

After breakfast, board a direct train from Bordeaux to Sarlat-la-Canéda (approx. 2h30). Upon arrival, settle into La Lanterne, a charming 1503-built family home turned B&B, nestled on a quiet pedestrian street in the heart of medieval Sarlat. Enjoy sweeping, unobstructed views of the village, the Saint Sacerdos Cathedral, and the iconic Lanterne des Morts from this beautifully preserved historic retreat.

Day 5: Dordogne Gourmet Adventure | Lascaux Tour | Vézère Valley

Explore the vibrant Sarlat market with a local expert and dive into the flavors of the Dordogne on a gourmet adventure. Shop alongside locals, sample regional delicacies, and uncover the medieval charm of Sarlat on a guided walking tour. Sarlat's market, one of the best food markets in the area, comes alive every Wednesday and Saturday in the spring until the end of October. Your first stop will be at a cheese cellar located in a 13th-century private mansion. Kept at a constant 10–12°C (51.8°F), it’s ideal for aging cheese. Taste 3 to 4 different cheese varieties, guided by local cheese masters.

Follow the journey to a family-run specialty shop for toasts made with foie gras (either duck or goose) and sweet wine. Savor local meat tapas with Bergerac red, then sample Trappe d’Echourgnac cheese and a bold walnut liqueur. Wander Sarlat’s medieval streets with your guide, taste fresh Dordogne strawberries in season, explore the covered market inside St. Mary’s Church, and finish with a bite of traditional walnut cake, a regional specialty.

In the afternoon, set off from Sarlat on a small group tour led by English-speaking guides and local Dordogne experts. Discover the UNESCO-listed Vézère Valley, home to some of the world’s most important prehistoric sites. Begin at the cutting-edge Lascaux IV Center of Parietal Art, where immersive technology brings the famed cave to life. Explore a full-scale replica featuring over 600 Paleolithic paintings and 1,000 engravings, meticulously recreated with 3D scans and physical castings. Step into the world of early humans through interactive exhibits, set designs, and workshops. Continue through the Vézère Valley with scenic stops in Les Eyzies and Saint Léon-sur-Vézère. Explore rock shelters, stroll ancient lanes, and soak in the atmosphere of this prehistoric heartland before returning to Sarlat by minibus.

Day 6: Explore Cahors

Today, depart the Dordogne Valley with your expert private guide and driver, luggage in tow, en route to Cahors—renowned for its Roman heritage, art, wine, and gastronomy. Along the way, choose between two exclusive tours: explore the medieval marvels of Rocamadour and St-Cirq-Lapopie, or venture into the prehistoric wonders of Pech Merle cave followed by St-Cirq-Lapopie.

Option 1: Private tour of Rocamadour and St-Cirq-Lapopie
Depart Sarlat with your private driver-guide for a full-day adventure through Dordogne and Lot. First, explore Rocamadour—a dramatic cliffside village and UNESCO site filled with legends, from the Black Virgin to the sword Durandal. After lunch and free time, visit St-Cirq-Lapopie, perched above the Lot River and famed as one of France’s most beautiful villages. Wander cobbled streets, browse artisan shops, and soak in sweeping views. The day ends in Cahors at a charming B&B, after a journey through history and stunning landscapes.

Option 2: Private tour of Pech Merle cave and St-Cirq-Lapopie
An adventurous day kicks off from Sarlat with a private driver-guide through the Dordogne and Lot Valleys. First, explore Pech Merle cave’s 20,000-year-old prehistoric art—mammoths, horses, and humans etched among towering stalactites. Then, wander the medieval cliffside village of St-Cirq-Lapopie, with its cobbled streets and artisan shops. After a scenic lunch, visit the legendary 14th-century Valentré “Devil’s Bridge,” a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The day concludes at a cozy Cahors B&B, immersed in history and breathtaking landscapes.

Day 7: Discover Bonaguil and Cahors

On this day, explore the Lot Valley with a private guide. Start at a working truffle farm to discover the secrets of the prized Black Diamond—UNESCO-listed black truffles. Learn the harvest process and savor a gourmet tasting of truffle butter paired with local Malbec wines. After free time for lunch at a recommended spot, visit the imposing 13th-century Bonaguil Castle. Tour its great hall, tunnels, and seven drawbridges, then take in panoramic views from its towers. Return to Cahors to end a day rich in flavors, history, and stunning scenery.

Day 8: Toulouse

After breakfast, continue your journey with a scenic 1.5-hour train ride from Cahors to Toulouse. Upon arrival, check in to Hotel Albert 1er, a charming, family-run hotel in the heart of the historic center—just steps from Capitol Square. The hotel, which has been in family ownership for three generations, combines sustainability and tradition and is recognized by both the European Ecolabel and the prestigious "Qualité Tourisme" label. It’s the perfect location for exploring the cultural and culinary treasures of the ‘Pink City.’

Day 9: Toulouse

In the morning, dive into Toulouse’s rich culinary scene on a traditional food walking tour through the heart of the “Pink City.” Led by a local food expert, this insider experience avoids tourist traps and highlights authentic regional flavors in spots only locals know. Skip breakfast—this tour includes enough tastings to equal a full meal or more. Enjoy Southwest wines, foie gras, cassoulet, artisanal chocolates, and the unique floral notes of Toulouse’s signature violet treats. Offered in small groups (up to 12) or as a private tour, it’s a delicious way to explore the city like a true Toulousain.

In the afternoon, explore Toulouse’s key sights and hidden gems on a 2-hour walking tour with the charming and knowledgeable guide. Discover iconic landmarks like Place du Capitole and the grand Town Hall, visit the historic Basilique St-Sernin on the Santiago de Compostela route, and stroll along the scenic Garonne River. Marvel at Renaissance-era townhouses from Toulouse’s “Golden Age” while enjoying engaging stories and local insights. This was our first trip to South America and we were a little nervous. But Adventure Life made things so easy! All our questions were answered before we left, and our guide, Vidal, was amazing! He gave us enough space to explore without rushing us along. He also knew where the best picture taking opportunities were, which was great.
