Day 2: Sail to Assaqutaq Abandoned Settlement

Start your day with a sailing adventure. Transfer to the harbor, meet your captain, and board your vessel. From the harbor, start on a unique journey to the abandoned settlement of Assaqutaq, located on an island 13 km east of Sisimiut. Step ashore and explore the settlement's empty buildings as your captain shares its history. On the return trip to Sisimiut, keep watch for whales and seals from the deck.

Day 3: Exploring Sisimiut

In the late morning, a local guide will meet you in front of the hotel for a 2-hour guided tour through the best part of Sisimiut. Stroll through the historic town and the harbor, and you will also see where the locals sell their catch of the day and where the Greenlandic sled dogs are situated. The tour will end at the museum, just in front of Hotel Søma, in the historical town, for a self-guided tour. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 4: Hike to Nasaasaaq

On this day's activity, the discovery of Teleøn, a charming little island in Greenland called Sallinguit that is bridged to the mainland. It hosts the oldest remains of human existence not only in the area of Sisimiut but in all of Greenland, dating back as far as 4500 years. During this easy hike, we will follow a historic route and see old peat houses and stone graves. This hike is great for enjoying a nice view of the city and Nasaasaaq.

The rest of the day is at your leisure. Feel free to enjoy the Lodge's relaxing amenities, explore Sisimiut independently, or arrange an additional tour with the front desk.

Your day is free at leisure. Opt to enjoy a relaxing 2 hours in the Arctic spa and sauna. You are free to decide what time fits best with your day's schedule. For a complete wellness treatment, book a 1-hour full-body massage before enjoying the spa and sauna.

Day 6: Catch and Cook Fishing Day

Today, catch your dinner like the locals! Head out with the captain to his favorite fishing spots around Sisimiut. Catching cod is usually easy, so leave hungry no more. No fishing experience? No problem—the captain will guide you through it. After reeling in your catch, decide whether to clean and fillet it yourself or leave it to the captain. Once back at Hotel Søma, the chef will prepare your fish, serving it with fries and salad in the cafeteria. It’s fresh, local, and yours to enjoy!
