This hut is located near ice caves for those looking for a unique attraction. A summer latrine is located near the hut outside, a winter latrine is available for use indoors only in winter months. The hut is geothermally heated. Running, cold water is supplied to the kitchen when the warden is present (normally in July and August only). Other times of year water has to be fetched or snow has to be melted. During bad weather spells, the warden permits people to sleep beyond the 36 person bunk space on the floor or wherever there is space.
