Start this tour with an early morning pick up at your accommodation in Reykjavik. You will drive towards the Snæfellsnes peninsula. Two-hour drive takes you to the foot of the famous Snæfellsjökull Glacier, a dormant 700000-year-old stratovolcano rising 1446m above sea level. It is best known from Jules Verne novel Journey to the Center of the Earth. Ascending the volcano takes 6-7 hrs, and the panoramic view from the top is sensational.

The day after your first summit will be a sightseeing day. Visit the highlights of the Snæfellsnes peninsula including the basalt rock formation of Arnarstapi, Djúpalónssandur pebble beach, and the much-photographed mountain Kirkjufell. Continue south, driving through the Borgarfjörður area where you explore the wonderful waterfall of Hraunfossar, before continuing onwards to the Golden Circle which includes Thingvellir National Park, the geothermal area of Geysir and the majestic Gullfoss waterfall.
Day 3 Eyjafjallajökull Glacier

Today will be your second challenge; the climb of the famous Eyjafjallajökull which erupted in 2010 and caused enormous disruption to air travel across western and northern Europe for several days. It is a 1,651m high stratovolcano with a magnificent view from the top. The vertical ascent is around 1,600 m and the climbing takes from 9-12 hours.

You can expect a long day today, as you make the ascent of Hvannadalshnúkur (2110 m/6922 ft). Iceland’s highest peak. This was our first trip to South America and we were a little nervous. But Adventure Life made things so easy! All our questions were answered before we left, and our guide, Vidal, was amazing! He gave us enough space to explore without rushing us along. He also knew where the best picture taking opportunities were, which was great.
