Travessia Beach Lodge

Travessia Beach Lodge sits among the dunes, coastal forest, and coconut palms directly on the beach. Its buildings are made of timber and roll-up canvas walls under roofs thatched with local makuti, raised on wooden decks linked by walkways, and rely on natural ventilation instead of air conditioning. The lodge was built by two couples, the first of whom spent two years living in a tent in the palm grove while securing permits and setting up the initial infrastructure. It runs on a solar hybrid system, with a backup generator, and draws water from a private borehole. 

Room Specifications
All rooms have sea views and a private deck with a hammock, and every bed has a mosquito net. The rooms have no air conditioning or television and are cooled by natural ventilation through the building design. Each room has an open-plan bathroom with a separate toilet and an outdoor shower. All room types can take one extra bed or a baby cot.

Amenities & Facilities
The lodge has one restaurant and two bar areas: a lounge and bar in the main building, and a beach bar and pool lounge overlooking the coast and palm grove. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, using produce from seasonal local markets and fish from local spear fishermen, with a set menu at dinner. All meals are included in the rate, along with early morning drinks and bottled filtered water. The bar serves local beers, soft drinks, and South African wines and spirits. The rim-flow pool has loungers, and a large deck looks out over the palm grove and the sea.
