Day 1: Arrive in Milan | Turin, Piedmont

Upon arrival at Milan Airport, you will be transferred to your accommodation in Turin by private car. After settling into your hotel in the afternoon, explore the historic center of Turin, discovering its 2,000 years of history, from Roman times to the splendors of the Kingdom until today. See Piazza San Carlo and Piazza Castello with the Madame Palace and the Royal Palace; enter the Royal Museums where you will admire the Chapel of the Holy Shroud, a true triumph of the Baroque of Guarini, recently made accessible after 20 years of restoration work. Then, it's time for a gourmet break at a historical café in the city center to relive the time when the cafes in Turin were places to discuss culture and politics. Taste a bicerin, a Turin treat made of coffee, chocolate, and cream. Dine on your own tonight.

Day 2: Turin, Piedmont

  • Hotel
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch
In the morning, set out on a walking tour of the oldest area of Turin, the so-called Quadrilatero Romano, made up of narrow cobbled streets that formerly formed the castrum of the ancient Roman city. Visit the Sanctuary of the Consolata, the true spiritual heart of Turin. This church is not only a place of wisdom, but it is also a pearl of Baroque art. Continue exploring Porta Palazzo, where the largest food market in Europe has stood for more than a century, with colorful fruit and vegetable stands. Meet local producers and enjoy a tasting of typical local products. The afternoon is at your leisure.

Day 3: Turin | Alba, Piedmont

After breakfast, visit the Egyptian Museum, which hosts the second most important Egyptian collection in the world after that of Il Cairo, guided by an Egyptologist. Recently, the 19th-century museum was transformed into a modern archaeological museum. The new styling has enhanced the immense treasures of its collection. More than 10,000 square meters of space and new high-tech showcases welcome more than 6,500 treasures. After a leisurely lunch at a local trattoria in Turin, a private transfer to the vineyard landscapes of the Langhe. Upon arrival, meet your local guide in Alba and set out on a walking tour of the town, starting from Piazza Duomo, and discover the history of the city as well as the gastronomic flavors of the region. Taste the culinary excellence that made the Langhe famous around the world. The excellent hazelnuts used to produce Nutella; the amazing Barolo, "the wine of kings and the king of wines"; and products with white truffle. Head off to your hotel in the heart of the Langhe.

Day 4: Monforte d'Alba | Barolo, Piedmont

Early this morning, reach Monforte d’Alba, where the landscape is a sequence of mild vine-cultivated slopes on which grapevine rows draw precise and stunning geometries. Meet your hiking guide and start walking towards Barolo, one of the most charming villages in the area. Once you arrive in Barolo, sip a well-deserved Italian-style aperitivo with local specialties. Enjoy lunch at leisure, and then take the remainder of the day to relax or rest.

Day 5: Langhe

Early this morning, experience a private truffle hunt led by an expert Trifulau (truffle hunter in local dialect) and the sense of smell of their faithful dogs, called Taboj. Take a walk in the woods and learn about the art and tradition of truffle hunting in the Langhe, where the most delicious truffles grow. Then, enjoy a tasting of local products seasoned with truffle. Return to your accommodation for a leisurely afternoon.

Day 6: Canelli, Piedmont

Today, meet a local cheese maker and discover all the secrets of traditional organic cheese making. See the animals and enjoy a tasting of local products and sheep cheese on a light lunch accompanied by a bottle of local red wine. Then, embark on a journey through the undergrounds of Canelli, nicknamed the Capital of Spumante, or sparkling wine. Explore the renowned wine cellars of Canelli with an expert guide. These approximately 12-mile-long underground cathedrals, known for their beautiful architecture, were built in the early 19th century to preserve locally made wine. Before returning to your Relais, indulge in a wine tasting with local fare.

Day 7: Sestri Levante, Liguria

After breakfast, check out and be transferred by private car to the little fisherman’s seaside town of Sestri Levante.

Day 8: Cinque Terre, Liguria

After breakfast, travel to Cinque Terre by local train in only 40 minutes. The fabled Cinque Terre is known for the five fairy-tale hamlets dazzling against the blue sea with clusters of pastel-hued fishermen's homes. Upon arrival in Monterosso, hike to Vernazza. From here, reach Manarola by train and enjoy a wine tasting experience with an expert to learn about Sciacchetrà winemaking in the steep hills of the region. After lunch and some time at leisure, return by local train to your accommodation.

Day 9: Santa Margherita Ligure

After breakfast, meet your local private guide at the hotel and reach Santa Margherita Ligure. Upon arrival, take a private gozzo boat transfer to the Abbey of San Fruttuoso, which can only be accessed from the sea or on foot. Discover the sacred building dating back to the XVI century and faces the whispering Mediterranean Sea. The Abbey has been part of The Italian National Trust since 1983. Transfer by private gozzo to Portofino for some time at leisure for lunch. Then, return to your accommodation by private transfer.

Day 10: Milan | Return Home

  • 1 Breakfast
