Welcome to Japan! After arriving at Haneda/Narita Airport, a private car will take you to your hotel in Tokyo. After settling in, you will have a brief orientation where you will receive your travel tickets and all the information you need!
Spend the rest of the day at your leisure independently. Explore the local shopping area or sample some street cuisine.
Day 2: Shinkansen bullet train to Kyoto | Traditional Tea Ceremony
After breakfast and hotel check-out, take the Shinkansen to Kyoto Station for a quick and comfortable ride through the beautiful scenery of Japan.
Upon arrival, check into your Kyoto hotel before your traditional tea ceremony experience. This cultural immersion introduces you to the art and mindfulness behind Japanese tea rituals, providing a relaxing and meaningful welcome to Kyoto’s historic ambiance. Enjoy observing each carefully practiced movement and savoring the tea in an authentic, serene setting.
The evening is yours to explore independently in Kyoto.
Today is a day for you to fully design as you please. We recommend some or all of the following:
Start your day at Kiyomizudera Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site with stunning views over Kyoto, known for its wooden terrace and sacred Otowa Waterfall. Then, stroll through the Higashiyama District, where preserved traditional streets are lined with teahouses, local shops, and historic architecture.
Next, head to Nishiki Market, Kyoto’s lively food market, where you can sample local delicacies and discover unique ingredients. End your day in Gion, the famous geisha district, with its historic atmosphere, traditional wooden houses, and, if you’re lucky, a glimpse of a geiko or maiko heading to an evening engagement.

Day 4: Kyoto's Bamboo Grove, Gardens, and Food Market
Today is another day in Kyoto for you to explore as you please. We recommend some or all of the following sights and activities:
Start your day in Arashiyama, where the enchanting Bamboo Grove awaits. Next, visit the tranquil Ryoanji Zen Garden, renowned for its minimalist rock garden design. Reflect on its simplicity and balance, a masterpiece of Zen aesthetics that invites quiet contemplation.
From there, enjoy a Shojin Ryori lunch at Tenryuji Temple, savoring traditional vegetarian cuisine crafted for Zen monks. Next, visit Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion), known for its shimmering gold-leaf exterior that reflects beautifully in the surrounding pond.
End your day with a contemplative stroll through the Zen garden at Ryoanji Temple, where 15 stones are artfully arranged in raked gravel, inviting quiet reflection and an appreciation of Zen simplicity.

Today, check out of your hotel and navigate your way on the local train to Osaka, where you can drop off your luggage. Spend the day exploring the city’s rich cultural heritage as you please. We recommend starting with a visit to Sumiyoshi Taisha, one of Osaka’s oldest Shinto shrines, known for its striking arched bridge and unique architectural style.
Next, opt to explore Osaka Castle, a historic landmark that played a crucial role in Japan’s unification. Stroll through the surrounding park, which offers stunning seasonal landscapes. In the evening, head to Dotonbori Foodie Street to find a tasty dinner. Here you can savor Osaka’s famous street food, including takoyaki and okonomiyaki, in a lively atmosphere filled with neon lights and energy.

After breakfast, head out for another day of independent exploration in Osaka. Start your day in Nara Park and stroll among the friendly, free-roaming deer in the area. From there, head to Todaiji Temple, home to Japan’s largest bronze Buddha statue, set within a stunning wooden hall designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
To fully experience Japanese culture, opt to join in a calligraphy and ink workshop. Learn the art of traditional calligraphy and make your own ink using techniques rooted in Nara’s historic craftsmanship, creating a meaningful memento of your visit.

This trip is enjoyable most of the year, but June is typically considered a rainy month, and September is typically typhoon season. July and August are very hot months for traveling in Japan.
Initial deposit is 35% of the total cost of the trip, and most travelers will call our office and pay the deposit with a credit card.
Final payment is due 70 days (10 weeks) prior to departure by bank transfer, check, or credit card. All final payments by credit card may be subject to a surcharge and a maximum of $20,000 charge
