Day 1: Arrive in Amman, Jordan

Welcome to Amman, the land of ancient heritage and modern marvels! As you land at Amman Airport, the team will be eagerly waiting to extend a warm welcome and assist you with immigration. Transfer to your hotel where you can rest and rejuvenate for the exciting journey ahead.

Founded in the Bronze Age, Amman is one of the oldest cities in the world, with a rich history that dates back centuries. As the city grows into a modern metropolis, it still retains its character and charm, making it a truly unique destination that offers the best of both worlds.

Depending on your time of arrival, we can arrange for a city tour that will take you through the famous landmarks of Amman, including the spectacular Roman Amphitheatre and the iconic Citadel that towers over the city. Get ready to be mesmerized by the intricate architecture and fascinating stories that surround these ancient monuments.

The transfer time from QAIA into Amman is approximately 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the traffic.

Day 2: Amman | Dana | Hike to Mansoura

The drive to the starting point of our trek takes about 2.5 hours so you will depart early this morning from the hotel. During the drive, bond with your fellow hikers or catch a quick power nap before the exhilarating journey begins.

Our trekking adventure will take us through the wondrous landscapes of Dana Biosphere Reserve. This reserve boasts four distinct ecozones, housing a breathtaking diversity of flora, fauna, and avifauna. Our first trail will lead us along the majestic mountains overlooking the awe-inspiring Dana Valley before we make our way down into the enchanting al-Khashasha Valley. Here, we will set up a wilderness campsite on the outskirts of the valley, where we can marvel at the picturesque scenery and unwind under the starry sky.

Hiking time: 5-7 hours
Distance: 15 KM
Ascent: 260m
Descent: 690m

Day 3: Mansoura | Furon

Bid farewell to Mansoura and set our sights on a breathtaking hike through the valleys that overlook the magnificent Wadi Araba. Our destination? The majestic Furon.

The hike may be steep and challenging, but the rewards are worth every step. As we ascend up through the mountains, we'll be treated to awe-inspiring views that will leave you spellbound. The dramatic valley we'll traverse through offers stunning vistas of the vibrant Wadi Araba Desert that will take your breath away.

After an invigorating morning, we'll take a well-deserved break at our campsite, set up by our amazing crew at Furon. The afternoon promises to be just as exciting as we continue our adventure through the rugged terrain of this beautiful region.

Difficulty Level: Difficult
Hiking Time: 5-7 hrs
Hiking Distance: 14Km

Day 4: Furon | Ghbour Whedat

Set out on the rugged terrain of Furon and trek past Ras Al-Feid towards Ghbour Whedat. Brace yourself for the breathtaking panoramas that will unfold before your eyes, as we explore some of the most remote and untamed corners of Jordan.

Traverse the Sharah Mountains and follow the well-worn paths of Bedouin shepherds. Marvel at the towering peaks of black mountains that loom above us, while the steep canyons below create a dramatic backdrop that will leave you in awe.

As we gradually ascend the hills, we will be rewarded with more stunning views of the desert below. And when the day draws to a close, we will set up camp in the wilderness of Ghbour Whedat, immersing ourselves in the beauty of the natural surroundings.

Hiking Level: Difficult
Hiking Distance: 17.1Km

Day 5: Ghbour Whedat | Little Petra

As we continue our journey toward Little Petra, the landscape begins to shift and we start to see more signs of human activity. Along the way, we'll encounter Bedouin camps, sheep pens, and small farms, all of which give us a glimpse into the daily lives of local residents.

As we approach the area between Ghbour Whedat and Little Petra, we'll be treated to a fascinating display of Nabatean ruins, including old wine and olive presses, aqueducts, and other impressive feats of ancient engineering. It's incredible to think about the level of sophistication and ingenuity required to create such complex water systems so long ago.

Today's highlight, of course, is Little Petra, a "suburb" of the legendary Petra that was once home to traders traveling along the famous Silk Road. As we explore this fascinating site, we'll marvel at the rock-carved facades, ancient houses, and other incredible sandstone structures that were crafted by skilled hands thousands of years ago.

Hiking Level: Moderate

Descent: 560m

The well-maintained tracks will lead you through the breathtaking Wadi Ghurab, surrounded by stunning sandstone mountains that guard the entrance to Petra.

As you follow the Nabataean route out of the valley, you'll come across a natural rock terrace that has been thoughtfully upgraded for your safety. While the path may narrow slightly, don't worry - the views from the hidden plateau above Wadi Siyyagh will take your breath away.

As you continue onwards, you'll suddenly catch sight of 'The Monastery', a magnificent structure carved into the cliff face. If you're feeling peckish, stop by the Bedouin café for some refreshments before descending down the Nabataean steps and into ancient Petra.

From there, you'll exit past the famous 'Petra Siq' and into the bustling Wadi Musa, home to an array of shops, cafés, and hotels.

After an unforgettable day of exploration, return to your camp with a satisfied appetite and indulge in the mouth-watering Bedouin dinner under the twinkling stars. Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
