Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge

The lodge sits beside a natural spring and a grove of giant acacia trees at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, surrounded by open savannah. Its design follows Maasai tradition. Guest rooms are in single-storey buildings modeled on a Maasai manyatta and decorated with hand-painted wildlife murals and locally inspired furnishings. Palm-shaded gardens and a terrace overlooking a waterhole link the public areas. Since 1991, staff and guests have planted more than 6.7 million trees through the lodge’s long-term reforestation program. In 2018, the property became the second fully solar-powered lodge in the Serena Hotels group.

Rooms & Suites
The lodge has 92 rooms: 41 king rooms, 44 twin rooms, three triple rooms, three family rooms, and one suite. Nine sets of rooms connect to each other. Every room has a private balcony. Standard rooms come with ceiling fans, mosquito nets, a telephone, a safety deposit box, a work desk and chair, a coffee and tea station, and free Wi-Fi. Complimentary mineral water, toiletries, and a hairdryer are provided, and 24-hour room service is available. The lodge has wheelchair access. Rooms have 240V/50Hz power with Type G sockets.

Hotel Amenities & Facilities
The lodge has a main restaurant and bar plus the Kiboko terrace bar. The restaurant serves buffet breakfast and lunch and a three-course table d’hôte dinner, with regular theme nights featuring pasta, Mongolian stir-fry, and Kenyan dishes. The lounge opens onto a terrace with a firepit, and another terrace looks out over the water hole. Vegetarian, kosher, and gluten-free meals are available with advance notice, and picnic or breakfast boxes can be ordered for an extra charge. Other facilities include a heated swimming pool, the Maisha Spa, a gift shop, and a conference room for up to 100 delegates. Guests can watch wildlife films in the evening at no charge. Services include express check-in and check-out, paid laundry, 24-hour on-call medical help, babysitting, children’s menus, and free Wi-Fi throughout the lodge.
