Elewana Kifaru House

Lewa Kifaru House takes its name from the Swahili word for rhino and sits within the 65,000-acre (26,305-ha) Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. The reserve protects about 10% of Kenya’s rhinos and 20% of the world’s Grevy’s zebras, alongside more than 70 animal species and 440 bird species. Once a cattle ranch, Lewa became a rhino conservancy in 1983. Today, it supports wildlife protection through a team of over 150 rangers and community programs focused on healthcare, education, micro-finance and water projects. Most lodge guides come from neighboring communities and hold professional safari guide certifications.

Rooms & Suites
The lodge has five thatched cottages set among lawns overlooking the plains. Each features a four-poster bed and en-suite bathroom. Cottage 1 has two bedrooms for families, while Cottages 2–5 have one king bedroom. Bathrooms include a shower, toilet and twin washbasins; one cottage also has a Victorian-style bath and a private outdoor shower.

Hotel Amenities & Facilities
The main house features a lounge with bar, dining area and library, with fireplaces for cool evenings. Furnished terraces overlook a waterhole, providing an outdoor breakfast setting, while an infinity pool faces the plains. Stays include full board and transfers to and from Lewa Main Airstrip. Road arrivals are collected at the conservancy headquarters, as only authorized vehicles may enter. Transfers to Nanyuki and other Elewana properties in northern Kenya take 2–5 hours.
