Mara Nyika Camp

Mara Nyika Camp sits deep in a valley in the Naboisho Conservancy, the second largest conservancy in the greater Maasai Mara region. Its name means “large plains” or “great plains,” and its suites stand under umbrella thorn trees beside a small river, with views over the plains. Raised walkways link the suites to the main area, giving the camp a treehouse feel. It is part of the Great Plains Réserve-Collection and a member of Relais & Châteaux. Naboisho, meaning “coming together” in Maa, was set up by 500 local landowners, and each stay supports over 500 Maasai families. The Great Plains Foundation also sponsors the Naboisho Women’s Group, whose bead, honey, and soap making projects support 105 households.

Rooms & Suites
The camp has four guest suites and one two-bedroom Family Suite, all elevated canvas tents built in a tree house style and connected to the main area by raised walkways. Each guest suite measures 1,000 sq ft (93 sq m) and has an indoor private lounge and a private veranda with views over the plains. The en-suite bathrooms have a brass bath, double vanity basins, and an indoor shower. A separate private two-bedroom suite, the Sambuk Suite, sits at the far end of the raised walkway.

Hotel Amenities & Facilities
The main area overlooks the surrounding wilderness and includes a library where guests can read while watching passing wildlife. An on-site wine cellar is available for tours and special meals. The Great Plains Safari Boutique sells the d&b explorer collection of safari clothing by Beverly Joubert, co-founder of Great Plains Conservation, along with other memorabilia. Guests can use complimentary professional cameras during their stay. All meals are included, along with non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks, including premium brand spirits and champagne, and laundry service. Road transfers to and from the ol Seki airstrip are included, as are scheduled air transfers from Nairobi Wilson Airport or other properties in the greater Maasai Mara region for stays of two nights or more.
