Sarara is located within the Namunyak Wildlife Conservation Trust, a vast area of about 850,000 acres that surrounds the southern part of the Mathews Mountain Range in northern Kenya. This region is home to the Samburu people, semi-nomadic pastoralists known for their long-standing coexistence with wildlife alongside their cattle. Sarara offers six luxury tents, each designed to capture stunning views of the Mathews Range and a nearby animal watering hole. The conservation efforts of the Namunyak Trust have been highly successful. Due to heavy ivory poaching in the 1970s and early 1980s, no elephants were recorded in the Mathews Range by 1985. Today, thousands of elephants live and breed in the southern Mathews Range, along with growing populations of leopards, reticulated giraffes, wild dogs, and kudu.
