







A variety of water-sport activities are available and are focused around Lake Malawi & is accessible only to resident in-house guests; watersports activities are not available to day visitors due to insurance reasons.
All non-motorized water-sport activities, such as kayaking and sailing, are complimentary to in-house guests. Motorized activities carry an additional fee.
You can snorkel the crystal clear waters around Boadzulu Island which has a rich population of the colorful Mbuna Cichlid fish & provide a perfect spot for snorkeling and swimming excursions. Bird lovers will enjoy being surrounded by fish eagles, cormorants and other beautiful birds.
A speed boat trip out to the island for sundowners is also the ideal experience for those not so eager to get their toes wet. The Makokola Retreat is a water lover's paradise and we can provide equipment and guides for all the below listed water-activities; refer to our activity brochures for more details on each of these exciting activities.

An exciting array of land activities awaits you at The Makokola Retreat & even if you don’t do it all, it’s nice to know it’s all there. We offer a host of land based activities for the active (and not so active).
Venture on a village excursion rich in culture or discover the local flora and fauna. If you are in the mood for a more challenging activity, golfing or a beach volleyball match can be an exceptionally memorable experience in this amazing setting.
