Originally the family home of Maclean Kay, Huntingdon House was constructed in 1928 and continues to embody a colonial charm and unique character that cannot be recreated. Forming the herat of the Satemwa Tea Estate, this magnificent house is marked by sprawling manicured gardens and secret terraces waiting to be discovered by guests. Here you will have the opportunity to explore the Satemwa Tea Estate, one of the oldest and most respected estates in Malawi. The estate is managed and operated by third generation members of the Cathcart Kay family and today members of the family live onsite. If you wish, you can spend time with Chip and his wife Dawn, learning about the rich history of this exceptional property and of Malawi's tea and coffee estates.
Huntingdon House has been tastefully refurbished to offer 5 unique suites, each individually decorated to reflect the quirks and character of this grand residence. Each area of the house has a story of its own; from the original children's nursery to the resident priests quarters and private Chapel. Guests are encouraged to share in the colorful history of one of Malawi's oldest homes while being spoilt by our team of professional staff.

Double Room
The warm colors and wonderful light from the bay windows at one end of this room create a fun, spacious atmosphere. The room has two twin beds and can put in one more single bed to sleep three people.
Kate was great to work with in the planning stage. She was prompt, helpful, and efficient. Our tour guide, Edwin, was knowledgeable and passionate. We were very happy to have traveled with Adventure Life, it made the trip easy and a true pleasure. We could concentrate on enjoying the experience rather than the details of travel.
