&Beyond Benguerra Island Lodge

&Beyond Benguerra Island Lodge sits within the only indigenous, protected forest on Benguerra Island, with rooms spaced 10 to 40 m (33 to 131 ft) apart. The design pairs a light, airy color scheme with tropical and African elements, and the lodge is open year round. A no-take marine conservation area lies in front of the lodge, and through Oceans Without Borders and Wild Impact the lodge has run a reef predator tagging project since July 2019. Plastic use is reduced with on-site water bottling, no plastic straws, recyclable amenities, and a glass bottle return system. Community work includes marine conservation lessons for about 226 local children each year, training for island residents, a community center that also serves as a cyclone shelter, an expanded island clinic, and 800 solar lanterns.

Rooms & Suites
All rooms have ocean views and open onto a private veranda with a sala, a hanging daybed, and a private plunge pool. Rooms have air conditioning and heating, overhead fans, and mosquito nets. Standard in-room features include a personal bar, a coffee station, a Bose music player, a telephone, a hairdryer, and an in-room safe. Bathrooms have a bathtub, an outdoor shower, and a separate toilet. Wi-Fi is available throughout the lodge on a 3G connection. Power is 220V with Type C, D, M, and N sockets, and adapters are available. Rooms are not wheelchair accessible and are not suited to guests with limited mobility.

Hotel Amenities & Facilities
The lodge has one bar, a dhow-style bar that serves house wines, local spirits and beers, soft drinks, tea, and coffee, with premium drinks at extra cost. Three meals a day are included, with breakfast from 7:30 am, lunch served on the beach or in the garden, and dinner from 6:00 pm. Meals can also be served in the room or as private dining, and a sheltered guest area is used in bad weather. Seafood is sourced sustainably. Facilities include a main lodge pool, a massage sala offering Healing Earth treatments, a PADI dive center with underwater GoPro rental, a library, and a beach shop. Yoga mats are available on request. Services include a private butler and complimentary laundry. The WILDchild program offers children hand-line fishing, baking with the chef, sandcastle building, and racket sports, and childcare for children under 6 is available for a small fee. Children aged 11 and under can have an early dinner with a children’s menu. Guests arrive by helicopter at the lodge helipad, followed by a short walk to reception.
