Set forth from Montreal to discover the historic and natural attractions along the St. Lawrence River and around the Gaspe Peninsula. Explore landmarks of Canadian past on your way to Maine's inviting shores where your voyage aboard Yorktown travels south to culminate in Gloucester, Massachusetts.
Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Arrive in Montreal. Embark Yorktown and settle in to your cabin. Familiarize yourself with the ship and her crew.
Day 2: Quebec City, Quebec
Quebec City remains one of North America's most romantic spots. Explore the city's old walls, narrow cobblestone lanes, outdoor cafes, copper gables, and historic battlements. The authentic, undeveloped charm of Old Quebec's Historic District is what led UNESCO to designate it a WOrld Heritage Site in 1985. Discover the Upper and Lower Towns, the Citadelle, the Plains of Abraham, and the Place Royale.
Day 3: Cruising the Saguenay River
Plan to be on deck early this morning as the ship approaches the entrance to the Saguenay River. The stretch of water from the Saguenay to the gulf of the St. Lawrence provides a sanctuary for many marine mammals including porpoise, dolphin, seal, and more than 13 species of whales. Enjoy lunch in the heart of glacial valley in port at Saguenay City. Take some leisure time to explore this fascinating spot. Historically Saguenay was the site of a French an aboriginal trading post. Nearby Saguenay Fjord National Park is rich in birch and fir forests and contains diverse wildlife ranging from black bears, lynx, and moose, to seals, beluga whales, and other marine mammals.
Day 4: Cruising the St. Lawrence
Relax aboard Yorktown and attend a program of lectures prepared by your panel of experts as you sail the St. Lawrence River.
Day 5: Gaspe, Nova Scotia
From Gaspe, visit the National Park of Bonaventure Island and Perce Rock, rising out of the sea to a height of almost 300 feet. Its neighbor, Bonaventure Island, houses a migratory bird sanctuary with the largest concentration of Northern Gannets in the world.
Day 6: Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia
Enjoy a panoramic tour of Prince Edward Island, including Prince Edward Island National Park, which supports over 200 bird species. Spend time in the charming fishing village of Rustico.
Day 7: Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia
From Port Hawkesbury, travel to the idyllic town of Baddeck, once the home of Alexander Graham Bell. Explore the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site and view the immense collection that illustrates the life of a great inventor.
Day 8: Halifax, Nova Scotia
Arrive in Halifax, a port city with an array of cultural and historic delights. In the morning, take a driving tour of historic Halifax then visit Fairview Cemetery, the final resting place of 100 victims of the 1919 Titanic disaster. Spend time at the Public Gardens then explore the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site.
Day 9: Shelburne, Nova Scotia
Shelburne was established in 1783 to provide asylum to British Loyalists during the American Revolution. Tour the historic waterfront and visit the Shlburne museum complex as well as the fully-restored historic Ross-Thompson House and Store Museum, where merchants George and Robert Ross carried on international trade in tea, coffee, rum, and wine and sold necessities to the town's residents.
Day 10: Yarmouth, Nova Scotia
Stop in Nova Scotia's Yarmouth, a fishing port with a long history of shipbuilding and lobster catching. This pleasant town, with its Cape Forchu Lighthouse and charming Victorian houses, is also home to several cultural centers. Visit the Yarmouth County Museum and Archive to learn more about the unique history of this port town.
Day 11: Eastport, Maine
First inhabited by the Passamaquoddy tribe 10,000 years ago, Eastport offers a long and storied history that continues to present-day. Explore the nearby Roosevelt Campobello International Park, a symbol of U.S.-Canadian cooperation. Tour the island summer cottage cherished by Franklin Delano Roosevelt from his boyhood to the early days of his presidency.
Day 12: Boothbay Harbor, Maine
From the ship's deck, enjoy a panoramic view of the lighthouses that line the Maine coast as you approach the town of Boothbay Harbor, often referred to as "the boating capital of New England." Visit the Maine Maritime Museum in the town of Bath, on the banks of the Kennebec River. See the displays on shipbuilding and lobstering. Return to Boothbay Harbor to walk along the town's quaint streets, lined with shops and restaurants or take time to explore the Coastal Main Botanical Gardens, a jewel of rare quality among North American gardens.
Day 13: Gloucester, Massachusetts
Following breakfast aboard Yorktown, disembark in Gloucester and transfer to airport to continue your travels.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!

The response from Adventure Life to my first inquiry was prompt and promising. I worked with Jamie Broeckel, Trip Planner, via text, email, and phone calls- always extremely responsive and thorough with information and explaining the process to arrange a private tour for me to Malaysia Borneo. Within about week, the booking was complete and I made decisions because of Jamie's great customer service , friendly manner, and overall competence on behalf of the company's travel expertise. Now I have an itinerary, additional Trip Planner Assistants, several links for vital information for traveling to Maylasia, etc. Still many details for Sept. trip, but now the heavy lifting is done and I can enjoy the rest of the anticipation and research!! The trip was not only memorable for the amount of animals we saw but also for the people and accommodations at the two camps where we stayed. Our first guide, BK, was a wealth of information about the animals, landscape and down to the plants and what they were used for. Everyday out was a learning experience with him. All the people at the camps were gracious and the food was excellent.
Our second camp in the Okavanga was just as good as the first as far as the staff, accommodations, food and animals. After our experience at the first camp we amazed that the high quality remained the same. Our guide, G, made sure we were able to enjoy every experience including a rush through the bush to witness a cheetah and an ensuing hunt that he heard over his radio.
In both camps there were enough guides out that if they saw something the other guides were informed which helped in seeing as much as possible. It was also nice that the concessions were large enough that we did not have vehicles following each other throughout the day.
Normally there is always something in a trip of this length that we think could be improved upon but this is the rare case where we cannot think of anything. From the time we left the States to when we returned it was one of the most hassle free vacations we took.
Perhaps emphasizing the use of the laundry facilities at the camps would be useful because of the luggage restrictions would be the only thing I can think of as an improvement to future clients.
