Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Your adventure starts at Hattvika Lodge where you check in to your fisherman cottage. Hattvika Lodge is located in a real fisherman's area, where ambient oozes of history and offers a great view of Hattvika harbor. All meals are being served at basecamp. This is also where you can find our friendly staff and the epic sauna and hot tub overlooking the majestic scenery!
Take on the close backyard and hike to the area of Kyllingdalen. A genuinely fantastic area to soak in the Lofoten scenery. Here we’ll do freshwater fishing, make a bonfire and cook lunch - even the coffee is served from the campfire! You also have the opportunity to hike the Mount Skottinden area and pending your hiking skills we may reach the summit.
After a great breakfast, we gear up for sea kayaking. You then have some time to explore by yourself or relax in your new home. In the late evening, enter the very best places to search for the northern lights. This can also be combined with a hiking adventure using headlights.
Surfs up! Start your morning at the world’s most northerly surf school, Unstad Arctic Surf, with a private instructor. You also have the opportunity to hike in this mesmerizing area of the Lofoten islands. Whether you choose to surf or hike, finish it off with a relaxing after-surf in the hot tub before lunch. Enjoy a final dinner at Hattvika Lodge and prepare yourself to embark on your sea adventure the following day
Embark MS Villa in Hattvika and settle in your cabins. After the mandatory briefing, set sail for the hidden gems of Lofoten which you can’t access by road. Our first stop will be at Andøya, known to be “The Whale Kingdom of the North”. Andøya is the original and leading whale watching spot in Norway. We spend the day Zodiac cruising in search of Sperm whales, which are full-time residents in these waters. Keep an extra eye out for Humpback whales, Minke whales, Orcas, Pilot whales, as well as White-beaked dolphins, and Harbor porpoises as they have been spotted here as well!
Explore the Outskirts of Lofoten. In true expedition style, explore areas no one visits! There are no roads or access points to reach this area unless you go on a yacht-like we do. Rumour has it there are stunning beaches and incredible views for that perfect selfie, all to yourselves!
During the night, reposition to the island of Røst. Outside the island of Røstlandet, there are five bird cliffs lined up in a row, together this is Scandinavia`s largest seabird colony, mainly well known for its huge number of breeding puffins. Explore the area using the Zodiacs, be prepared to be surrounded by sea birds! Røst is a flat island with a thriving community dating back to 1431 when Italian traders became stranded here after a shipwreck. Local fishers found them, and the incident sparked the beginning of the Norway-Italy stockfish trade. End the day with a cocktail at Querini pub, named after the Venetian Captain Pietro Querini.

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.

The response from Adventure Life to my first inquiry was prompt and promising. I worked with Jamie Broeckel, Trip Planner, via text, email, and phone calls- always extremely responsive and thorough with information and explaining the process to arrange a private tour for me to Malaysia Borneo. Within about week, the booking was complete and I made decisions because of Jamie's great customer service , friendly manner, and overall competence on behalf of the company's travel expertise. Now I have an itinerary, additional Trip Planner Assistants, several links for vital information for traveling to Maylasia, etc. Still many details for Sept. trip, but now the heavy lifting is done and I can enjoy the rest of the anticipation and research!! Thanks Jamie- you are amazing!!!!

The trip was not only memorable for the amount of animals we saw but also for the people and accommodations at the two camps where we stayed. Our first guide, BK, was a wealth of information about the animals, landscape and down to the plants and what they were used for. Everyday out was a learning experience with him. All the people at the camps were gracious and the food was excellent.
Our second camp in the Okavanga was just as good as the first as far as the staff, accommodations, food and animals. After our experience at the first camp we amazed that the high quality remained the same. Our guide, G, made sure we were able to enjoy every experience including a rush through the bush to witness a cheetah and an ensuing hunt that he heard over his radio.
In both camps there were enough guides out that if they saw something the other guides were informed which helped in seeing as much as possible. It was also nice that the concessions were large enough that we did not have vehicles following each other throughout the day.
Normally there is always something in a trip of this length that we think could be improved upon but this is the rare case where we cannot think of anything. From the time we left the States to when we returned it was one of the most hassle free vacations we took.
Perhaps emphasizing the use of the laundry facilities at the camps would be useful because of the luggage restrictions would be the only thing I can think of as an improvement to future clients.
