Activity options vary depending on destination and operator. Activity level is determined by the range and intensity of activities you choose to participate in. Discuss with your Trip Planner which options are best for you.
Your expedition begins in the most northerly town in the world, Longyearbyen. In the afternoon, you will embark on your expedition vessel at the port of Longyearbyen. After an introduction from your expedition leader and a safety briefing from the captain, you will set sail through the majestic Adventfjord. As Longyearbyen disappears astern, you will wave goodbye to civilization for the next 9 days. As you sail out through the Isfjord, you will spend time on deck watching for whales that frequent the waters.
In the morning, you will approach Prins Karls Foreland, an uninhabited island with beautiful scenery off the west coast of Spitsbergen. You will drop anchor and launch the Zodiac landing craft to go ashore and visit an area where walruses haul out. In the afternoon, you will go on a wilderness hike, where you can frequently see Svalbard reindeer. If conditions allow, you will sail up to the edge of the sea ice, which extends all the way to the North Pole. In calm conditions, you will cruise along the edge of the sea ice, keeping a sharp lookout for wildlife, including polar bears that hunt on the ice.
Every voyage you undertake to Svalbard involves an element of exploration. Part of your Svalbard experience is to have a few days with no set itinerary. Under the guidance of your expedition leader, you will work with the weather and sea ice conditions to show you the best that the northwest coast has to offer. Over the next three days, you will cruise around the coast with regular shore landings to visit different natural and historical sites, including glaciers, go on wilderness hikes, and spend some time enjoying the raw nature of the Arctic.
As you sail back south, you will explore the area around Kongsfjorden, with majestic glaciers and some of Svalbard's most beautiful fjords visible from the decks. Here, you will encounter one of Svalbard's most breathtaking sights: the Lilliehook glacier, one of Svalbard's largest calving glacier fronts. You will spend time here witnessing nature's beauty in its rawest form, with the option of going on a wilderness hike to a neighboring fjord.

We are so glad that we chose Adventure Life. The service is top-notch. Everything is well taken care of and we just have to print the documents and go. Franny even gave us timely updates on possible airport strike.

Excellent travel advice and service
This is my second experience working with Adventure Life. I’m sold. Jess Heuermann is an experienced traveler and provides a lot of useful information when planning a trip. These are the questions I like to ask at the outset - What’s it like to go here, there, what would you suggest, what do people report, can we add any additional side trips? Jess took the time to answer my questions and seek additional information to share with me. Petchie Colina is outstanding in helping with travel logistics and final preparations. Adventure Life has excellent guides and offers private guides and small group adventures. We enjoyed the opportunity to talk with the guides and drivers to learn more about their countries, cultures and histories. A highlight was having the guides pick local restaurants where we could share meals together. Highly recommend.

Our six-day tour in Iceland went smoothly with one exception. We had asked for two rooms each night. Somehow we were booked with one room with three beds. It could not be fixed at the first hotel in Reykjavik because the hotel was fully booked. Once informed of the problem, however, Adventure Life rebooked for two rooms for the remainder of the trip. As an 85-year-old traveler, I appreciated that one could participate at different physical levels at many of the stops. Iceland is a great place to visit but on the expensive side.

Jess was very easy going and answered all our questions. It’s not easy dealing with 6 people at once but she did an outstanding job!

Kassandra and the Adventure Life team have been incredible! Kassandra was very knowledgeable and attentive to our asks while making sure we kept within our budget. This was our first experience with a travel agent and we were blown away by the booking/initial exploration service. We will use Adventure Life again.
