Set sail on a 10-day Svalbard cruise aboard  MV Vikingfjord, starting and ending in Longyearbyen. Sail past Fuglefjella and visit Poolepynten on Prins Karls Forland, known for its walrus colony and burial site. Spend several days exploring the ice edge near Fuglefjorden, spotting polar bears, seals, and seabirds. Cruise by Zodiac near the Svitjodbreen glacier and visit cultural sites such as Copper Camp and Camp Bell. Landings in Van Mijenfjord offer the chance to see reindeer and learn about Arctic history. In Hornsund, stop at Gnålodden to view the bird cliff and an old trapper’s hut before sailing north through Isfjorden. Disembark in Longyearbyen after a journey through some of Svalbard’s most remote and wildlife-rich areas.

Day 1: Longyearbyen | Embark

Depart Longyearbyen at 4 p.m. and sail past Fuglefjella (Bird Mountain), known for its plateau mountain landscape.

Day 2: Poolepynten

Visit Poolepynten, a headland on Prins Karls Forland that has a walrus colony and a burial site.

Day 3-7: Fuglefjorden | Van Mijenfjord

Search the ice edge, a dynamic setting of texture and light, home to seals, seabirds, and polar bears.

Turn south to Fuglefjorden, for a Zodiac cruise of Svitjodbreen, on the hunt for calving ice.

Tour St. Johnsfjord, landing at Copper Camp to view cultural remains.

Land at Vårsolbukta in Van Mijenfjord to view Camp Bell, a prospector’s hut, and hopefully meet some reindeer.

Day 8-9: Hornsund | Isfjorden

See Hornsund, with a landing in Gnålodden to marvel at the scenic bird cliff (home to black-legged kittiwakes) and trapper’s hut.

Return north to Isfjorden and Longyearbyen.

Day 10: Longyearbyen | Disembark
