Operating since 1979, Sea Cloud Cruises and their majestic tall ships have shaped an entire era of windjammer sailing adventures following the concept of gentle tourism–reliable and always in harmony with nature. Instead of fighting it with engine power, Sea Cloud uses the wind and proves that unique experiences and a good environmental balance are not mutually exclusive. As often as possible, they sail. Under arched sails, the values of classic seamanship are in the foreground and people are at the center.
When is embarkation/disembarkation?
In general, embarkation begins at 16:00 and disembarkation takes place at 09:00. Any deviation from these times will be indicated in your cruise documents.
How much luggage can I bring?
If you are travelling to/from the cruise by air, the free baggage allowance of the respective airlines applies. If travelling by car or rail, your luggage should not exceed 40 kg per person.
Life Onboard
What language is spoken on board and on the shore excursions?
The languages used on board are German and English. Daily programmes, menus and announcements will be available in both languages. Depending on the group, we always endeavour to organise German or English-speaking tour guides for our shore excursions.
Is there a dress code on board?
During the day, and depending on the weather, a sophisticated summer look is suitable. For the evening, we recommend smart-casual wear. We also kindly request that guests refrain from wearing shorts at evening meals. The Captain’s Dinner (an event which normally takes place twice on each trip – once on short cruises) is a time when our guests tend to opt for a more elegant look. We recommend a suit for men and appropriate smart dress for women. Please remember to take some non-slip shoes with you.
Will I be able to get my clothes washed during the trip?
Laundry services available onboard are limited to washing and ironing. There is no dry-cleaning available. The washing and ironing service is provided at an additional charge and is carried out overnight. For guests with bookings in Cat. A-C (SEA CLOUD) or Cat. A+B (SEA CLOUD II), this service is free of charge. For safety reasons, passengers are not permitted to iron in their cabins.
Is smoking permitted onboard?
Smoking is permitted only on the outer decks outside of meal times. We kindly request that smokers take the comfort of other passengers into consideration. Smoking is prohibited on the blue lagoon deck and covered areas of the spanker and lido deck at all times.
What additional costs may arise in addition to the cost of the trip?
Not included in the cost of the trip are individual expenses on board, e.g. drinks at the bar, telephone/internet costs, laundry and shoe service, beauty and wellness services or purchases in the boutique. Shore excursions can be booked additionally on board.
Can I exchange currency onboard?
Limited amounts of foreign currency are available onboard for onshore excursions. Please ask the purser about this. We also recommend that you obtain a few notes in each of the relevant country's currency before the start of your trip. Currency exchange from euros to US dollars and vice-versa is available at any time.
Health and Safety
I have an allergy/diabetes. How can I ensure my dietary requirements are met?
Please inform us in good time prior to the trip if you have any allergies or intolerances, or any other special dietary requirements. This information is very important for the kitchen, laundry and room service. We will gladly accommodate your requests.
Is there an onboard clinic/ship's doctor?
The SEA CLOUD and the SEA CLOUD II both have an on-board clinic run by the ship's doctor, which can be used at any time should an emergency arise. As there are no lifts, only staircases, on our ships, please ensure that you are in good physical health before the start of the cruise. If you are unsure whether you will be able to cope with the conditions on board, please contact our cruise consultancy. Certain exceptions must be agreed upon in advance.
Are the ships suitable for wheelchair users?
Our tall ships SEA CLOUD and SEA CLOUD II are not accessible for all people with disabilities and are not suitable for wheelchair users. Please contact our cruise consultancy for further details.
Are there lifts on board?
As there are no lifts, only staircases, on our ships, please ensure that you are in good physical health before the start of the cruise. If you are unsure whether you will be able to cope with the conditions on board, please contact our cruise consultancy.
Can I store my valuables safely onboard?
The wardrobe in your cabin contains an electronic safe which can be programmed with a personal code.
Kate was great to work with in the planning stage. She was prompt, helpful, and efficient. Our tour guide, Edwin, was knowledgeable and passionate. We were very happy to have traveled with Adventure Life, it made the trip easy and a true pleasure. We could concentrate on enjoying the experience rather than the details of travel.

The holiday of a lifetime. The company is Alaksa-owned and thhat makes a big difference to the experineces you get i.e. meet genuine First Nations tribes people. The amount of wildlife was beyond my expectation, and seeing everything on sucha small, intimate boat made it even more spoecial and unique.

It was an outstanding, up-close, educational vacation of nature, culture, history, animals and geology! It was everything they promised! Binoculars were plentiful on the boat, but I'm glad I brought my own. Food was excellent. Rooms had black-out shades. Pack/wear multiple layers of clothing (I carried a small backpack when off the ship). Crew were delightful and very accommodating! Remember to jump FEET FIRST first when taking the optional polar plunge! Spend as much time outdoors as you are able and ENJOY!!!

Excellent travel advice and service
This is my second experience working with Adventure Life. I’m sold. Jess Heuermann is an experienced traveler and provides a lot of useful information when planning a trip. These are the questions I like to ask at the outset - What’s it like to go here, there, what would you suggest, what do people report, can we add any additional side trips? Jess took the time to answer my questions and seek additional information to share with me. Petchie Colina is outstanding in helping with travel logistics and final preparations. Adventure Life has excellent guides and offers private guides and small group adventures. We enjoyed the opportunity to talk with the guides and drivers to learn more about their countries, cultures and histories. A highlight was having the guides pick local restaurants where we could share meals together. Highly recommend.

Our six-day tour in Iceland went smoothly with one exception. We had asked for two rooms each night. Somehow we were booked with one room with three beds. It could not be fixed at the first hotel in Reykjavik because the hotel was fully booked. Once informed of the problem, however, Adventure Life rebooked for two rooms for the remainder of the trip. As an 85-year-old traveler, I appreciated that one could participate at different physical levels at many of the stops. Iceland is a great place to visit but on the expensive side.
