Values
SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL & COOPERATION
Apumayo Expediciones prioritizes true sustainability in all aspects of its business planning and operations. They aim to safeguard the natural and cultural values of the regions in which they operate, ensuring they are not compromised. Their commitment extends to minimizing environmental impact at every stage of their business, from wilderness journeys operating under minimal impact guidelines to running offices with maximum efficiency and minimal waste.
CONSERVATION
Minimize the negative effects of tourism. This includes ensuring that tourism does not divert resources away from local communities or drive up the prices of local resources. Provide opportunities for cultural exchange, where we share and learn from the local communities.
SECURE TRAVEL
The guides employed by Apumayo Expediciones are among the most highly regarded in Peru, boasting extensive experience in guiding across the globe. They undergo rigorous training in culture, interpretation, safety, rescue, and first aid. These skilled professionals make a significant difference in the visitor experience, providing insights into local culture and ensuring safety throughout the journey.
Furthermore, the gear utilized for their activities adheres to international standards, contributing to the creation of comfortable and unforgettable "wild" lifetime experiences for their guests.
INNOVATION
In the past, Apumayo Expediciones pioneered the exploration of new adventure destinations for kayaking and rafting, such as the Colca and Cotahuasi rivers, where they conducted initial explorations and commercial journeys. Currently, they are introducing new alternatives for hiking and trekking experiences, supported by llamas. These journeys follow lost Inca trails near Machu Picchu.
Moreover, Apumayo Expediciones has ventured into running a new and spectacular section of the Apurimac River known as "the black canyon," which marks the source of the Amazon River. This expansion allows them to continue offering exciting and unique outdoor experiences to their clients.
Environmental & Social Policy
Fair Trade in Tourism
Apumayo Expediciones stands out as the sole adventure company in Peru actively engaged in environmental campaigns aimed at safeguarding the rivers in which they operate. Additionally, at the conclusion of every rafting trip in the Ollantaytambo region, they ensure to patronize local services for lunch from a restaurant owned by a family from the nearby community of Cachiccata.
By choosing to travel with Apumayo Expediciones, clients directly contribute to these efforts in various ways, as a portion of the trip cost is allocated to support activities and campaigns such as Vilcanota river clean-ups, protection of the Qeunua relict forest, environmental education initiatives, vocational training programs, and reforestation projects.
Moreover, Apumayo and its partners are actively developing an ecotourism program within the community of Cachiccata, near Ollantaytambo, with the objective of equitably sharing the benefits of tourism with the local residents.
Environmental Sustainability
Apumayo Expediciones emphasizes genuine sustainability throughout its business planning and operations. Their primary goal is to safeguard the natural and cultural heritage of the regions where they operate, ensuring that these values are preserved and not compromised. They are committed to minimizing environmental impact at every stage of their business operations.
Their wilderness journeys adhere strictly to minimal impact guidelines, ensuring that their exploration activities leave minimal trace on the environment. Moreover, Apumayo's office operations prioritize maximum efficiency and waste reduction, aligning with their commitment to sustainability.
Additionally, Apumayo actively contributes to conservation efforts. They seek partnerships with local environmental organizations to advocate for conservation, promote environmental protection, and participate in rehabilitation initiatives whenever feasible. Through these collaborations, Apumayo strives to make a positive impact on the conservation of natural resources and ecosystems.

The trip was terrific with great planning on your part. Most of the adventures were not mainstream and somewhat off the beaten path which made it especially enjoyable!! We felt taken care of and you all were readily available to respond to questions and issues. I would highly recommend your company and friends have already expressed interest based on our pictures and excitement.

Cruse ship was great. Fantastic food and service. Cruise itinary got changed so not what we expected, but not an major issue. Japan portion was great. Drivers/guides arranged by 80 Days were great. Hotels were mostly ok. Did not know that most hotels outside of major cities do not allow shoes to be worn in the hotel. again a minor inconvenience. Overall a great trip. Adventure Life communications were timely and much appreciated as far as changes/requests.

We were a group of three that initiated our research by independently searching for the best agency to help us in the somewhat complex experience of traveling to the Galapagos. We chose adventure life because they were the most responsive in the website provided the most comprehensive overview of the trip. Their reviews were also very good.
Adventure, life splits up its booking process in two parts. First Jeff, the booking agent helped us decide which experience best suited are interests. We chose a small 14 to 16 group sized yacht. Once the booking was made with Jeff, we were handed off to Coleene, who oversaw the complex process of assembling all of the necessary documents and making sure we had everything we needed to make the trip go smoothly. The adventure, life website, then becomes your personal place of reference for all things related to your trip from door to door. It’s a lot of information to assemble, especially for three travelers, but the website makes it easy and Colleen‘s gentle reminders kept us on track. In all, from the beginning, we had four months from the time we started our research till the time we departed. We felt that was, a good amount of preparation time and don’t think it would be wise to do it in less than four months. Mostly because I think you have more options with that amount of time. There were others on our trip that took six months and more from the time they started planning.
The trip itself was outstanding. We ended up on an excellent yacht (Galapagos Angel II) with a great group of guests that we were able to connect with and put together a really nice google photos album to share.
