Abercrombie & Kent began 60 years ago on the plains of Africa, where Geoffrey Kent and his parents, Valerie and Colonel John Kent, pioneered a new style of luxury adventure travel. From our first journeys in 1962, A&K grew into a globe-spanning network of companies, opening destinations previously inaccessible to visitors and establishing a new benchmark for experiential travel.
Today, they are the world’s premier luxury travel company, with an unrivaled legacy of creating memorable, inspiring adventures in more than 100 countries on all seven continents. Our approach combines singular service, authentic local expertise, and beyond-the-guidebook insider access, all of which come together to create a journey of a lifetime, every time you travel with us.
About the Founder:
Geoffrey Kent was born on safari and grew up on his family’s farm in Kenya. At 16, he became the first individual to motorbike between Kenya and Cape Town. After serving in the British Army, Geoffrey returned to Kenya and established Abercrombie & Kent with his parents, building it over the years into the world’s premier luxury travel company.
Geoffrey was a founding member of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), serving as Chairman for six years. In 2021 he was awarded the WTTC Global Icon Award and named an Honorary Member. He was named to the British Travel and Hospitality Industry Hall of Fame in 2012 for inventing the concept of experiential travel by bringing the same sense of adventure found on safari to destinations around the world. He continues to travel the world interviewing guides, scouting locations, and ensuring that the standards he and his parents established 60 years ago remain in place on each and every A&K journey.
A&K has over 55 offices in more than 30 countries, and a global family consisting of more than 2,500 dedicated travel experts. Chief among them is the Resident Tour Director® who leads each group departure, providing unmatched on-the-ground expertise with A&K local guides contributing along the way. They offer everything from inspiring small-group journeys to Luxury Tailor Made Travel, Luxury Expedition Cruises, and Private Jet journeys, and they are consistently recognized as the gold standard for luxury travel by professionals and guests alike.
Corporate Social Responsibility and Local Projects
Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy
Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy (AKP), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is the philanthropic arm of Abercrombie & Kent (A&K). The organization traces its beginnings back to 1982 when Jorie Butler Kent, AKP Co-Chairman, together with A&K Founder, Chairman, and CEO Geoffrey Kent, first raised funds for conservation efforts in the Masai Mara National Reserve of Kenya.
Today, AKP carries on A&K’s social and environmental commitments on a global scale with approximately 40 projects on all seven continents. Guests of A&K have the opportunity to visit these projects and support the further development of AKP’s investments in the natural and cultural heritage of diverse destinations around the world.
Mission
"We believe our partnership with local communities is critical to sustain the fabric of the diverse destinations we visit. We are deeply committed to the Four Pillars of Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy"
Vision
"We help nature to thrive and cultures to flourish by positively impacting lives and livelihoods in the communities where A&K guests travel. Through dedicated strategic investments in education, conservation, health care, and enterprise, we inspire our guests and staff to actively support our philanthropic endeavors."
Commitment
"AKP is committed to operating our philanthropic programs with integrity, accountability, and transparency."
Project C.U.R.E
At AKP, we are working toward eliminating healthcare disparities in disadvantaged populations through our Global Medical Assistance Program. AKP is honored to partner with Project C.U.R.E, the world’s largest supplier of donated medical supplies, to overcome some of these obstacles – and to meet the needs of communities who are lacking access to critical medical resources. Project C.U.R.E. identifies, solicits, collects, sorts and distributes medical supplies and services according to the imperative needs of the world. To learn more about their work, please visit the Project C.U.R.E website.
Working Bikes
Since 2015, AKP has been using the power of bikes to address human development inequities in the local communities where our A&K guests travel. With more than 10,000 bikes shipped to Botswana, Egypt, Tanzania, Zambia, Uganda, Jordan, and future locations in the works, our Bike Shop Program has proven to be one of AKP’s most impactful projects. We know this has only been possible through the combined efforts and support of all those who share our mission.
AKP would like to recognize the nonprofit organization Working Bikes for their incredible dedication in aligning with AKP to positively impact the lives of our partner communities. Chicago-based Working Bikes rescues discarded bicycles and gives them new life by redistributing them as tools of empowerment to communities, both around the world and in their very own neighborhood. Majority of bike shipments to AKP’s global bike shop enterprises come through the collecting and packing efforts of Working Bikes. To learn more about their work, please visit the Working Bikes website.
LifeStraw
Every day, millions throughout the developing world suffer due to a lack of clean drinking water. To address this urgent need, AKP partnered with LifeStraw for the Safe Water for Schools Initiative, an ever-expanding collaboration that has already brought high-volume water purifiers to over 18,000 children in India, Kenya, Tanzania, and Vietnam. LifeStraw purifiers remove a minimum of 99.9999% of bacteria, 99.999% of viruses and 99.99% of protozoan parasites, preventing the region’s most deadly waterborne diseases. To learn more about their work, please visit the LifeStraw website.
Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!

It was an outstanding, up-close, educational vacation of nature, culture, history, animals and geology! It was everything they promised! Binoculars were plentiful on the boat, but I'm glad I brought my own. Food was excellent. Rooms had black-out shades. Pack/wear multiple layers of clothing (I carried a small backpack when off the ship). Crew were delightful and very accommodating! Remember to jump FEET FIRST first when taking the optional polar plunge! Spend as much time outdoors as you are able and ENJOY!!!

Excellent travel advice and service
This is my second experience working with Adventure Life. I’m sold. Jess Heuermann is an experienced traveler and provides a lot of useful information when planning a trip. These are the questions I like to ask at the outset - What’s it like to go here, there, what would you suggest, what do people report, can we add any additional side trips? Jess took the time to answer my questions and seek additional information to share with me. Petchie Colina is outstanding in helping with travel logistics and final preparations. Adventure Life has excellent guides and offers private guides and small group adventures. We enjoyed the opportunity to talk with the guides and drivers to learn more about their countries, cultures and histories. A highlight was having the guides pick local restaurants where we could share meals together. Highly recommend.

Our six-day tour in Iceland went smoothly with one exception. We had asked for two rooms each night. Somehow we were booked with one room with three beds. It could not be fixed at the first hotel in Reykjavik because the hotel was fully booked. Once informed of the problem, however, Adventure Life rebooked for two rooms for the remainder of the trip. As an 85-year-old traveler, I appreciated that one could participate at different physical levels at many of the stops. Iceland is a great place to visit but on the expensive side.
