Day 1: Lisbon, Portugal | Embark

Lisbon is the capital as well as the largest city in Portugal. It is also one of the oldest cities in the world. Lisbon has two sites listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Sites: Belem Tower and Jeronimos Monastery. The city stretches along the banks of the Tejo River.

Arrive in Lisbon and transfer to the SeaDream II. Settle in to your cabin and attend a welcome dinner as the ship sets sail.

Optional Activities:

Lisbon – Snapshots of Lisbon: This introduction provides a look at the highlights of Portugal’s charming capital. As you head to the oldest part of the city, your licensed guide points out some of the major sites that can be enjoyed from the motor coach. The Alfama Quarter - the layout of this ancient quarter intrigues you with its ambiance, maze of alleyways, and narrow, cobbled streets lined by closely packed houses, many of Moorish design. Continue with your drive through the city center to Alto do Parque Belvedere for a photo stop and to enjoy the magnificent view over the city. Once across the span, pause for photos at the base of the Monument Chris the King, a 361-foot-high statue portraying the sacred heart. Jeronimos Monastery - crossing the bridge once again proceed to this 16th-century architectural masterpiece designed in Gothic Manueline style. Belém Tower - next, proceed to Lisbon’s prominent landmark dominating the bank of the Tagus River. From this lavishly decorated tower, Portuguese explorers were given a rousing send-off. Leaving the Belém area, be taken back to the pier.

Day 3: Funchal, Medeira, Portugal

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Funchal is the largest city, the municipal seat, and the capital of Portugal's Autonomous Region of Madeira. Besides the city of Funchal, tourist destinations include: Ribeira Brava, Curral das Freiras, Porto Moniz, Santana, the Laurisilva forest, a UNESCO Natural Site in the center of Madeira Island, and the beaches of Porto Santo Island.

Optional Activities:

Funchal, Madeira – Best of Funchal – Cable Car, Toboggan & Wine: See Madeira from the air and experience the wonderful views all the way up to Monte by cable car then down by toboggan! Monte has been a favorite destination for visitors to Madeira since the late 19th century, when a steam railway was built to haul cruise liner passengers up the hillside from Funchal. The railway closed in 1939, but now you are given the opportunity to experience this trip with the construction of the cable cars. The first stop on this land adventure is in the old part of town where you board the cable car to begin your ride. The cable car takes you on a picturesque trip up to Monte where the first image you see is the twin-towered façade of the Our Lady of Monte Church, a landmark throughout the city. For those who would like to, the way down to Livarmento can be done on the famous basket sledges called “toboggans”. Your next visit is The Blandy Wine Lodge, where you are invited to a tasting of some fine Madeira wine, world famous for over 400 years, at a Wine Lodge in Funchal. After experiencing the highlights of Funchal, you may either choose to return to the ship or continue to explore the town independently.
Duration: 3.5 hours

  • 8 Breakfasts, 8 Lunches, 8 Dinners

Day 12: Marigot, Saint Martin

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Marigot is the main town and capital on the French side of Saint Martin. The city of Marigot is perhaps the most French in spirit of all the cities in the Caribbean. Colonial houses stand beside smart cafés and bistros, pastry shops and luxury boutiques, and in many ways it looks just like any of the French market towns you might expect to find in Europe. At the southern end of town by the harbor is Marina Port la Royale. This area includes elegant stores with the latest in European designer fashions and fine jewelry, all duty- and tax-free. The entire city is only four streets wide, so it is very easy to get around. Marigot was made capital during the reign of King Louis XVI, who built Fort St. Louis on a hill near Marigot Bay. Today, that building is the most important in the city.

Optional Activities:

Marigot - America's Cup 12-meter Regatta: Today is your chance to join the crew aboard a multi-million dollar America's Cup contender during the St. Martin 12-Meter Regatta. Compete in an actual race around an "America's Cup" course. Grind a winch, trim a sail, and sail "your" America's Cup boat to victory. The able and experienced Regatta staff give instructions on how to perform a task and what commands to expect. Previous sailing experience is unnecessary. The Regatta is out of St. Maarten's Philipsburg Harbor, and round-trip transportation is included for all "crew members." Join the victory celebration with a rum punch on the dock before returning to the SeaDream quay. If you love to sail or have never tried, do not miss this adventure!
Duration: 4.5 hours

Marigot - Deep Sea Fishing: Let your skilled skipper help you find the right fishing spot. Depending on the time of year, the waters around St. Martin abound in blue marlin, tuna, swordfish, mahi- mahi, white marlin, sailfish, wahoo, barracuda and more. The fishing boat charter waits for you right at the pier where you are tendered ashore in Marigot. Depending on the sea conditions and time permitting, the skipper brings you as far off as Anguilla, around St. Martin or St. Barth coasts. Type of boat: Hatteras 33’ (1988)
Duration: 4 hours

Marigot - The Zip-Line Lovers - Extreme: Do you love zipping through treetops? Have you "done" zip-lines before? Did you always feel that the zip-lines were too short or too few? Did the rides always leave you wanting more? Then this is your kind of trip! This one is amazing! After being outfitted at the station at the bottom of the lush valley, an open-air truck takes you on a short drive up, almost to the top of the mountain. Soon you find yourself high above the regular fly-zone down below and enjoying spectacular views of Marigot and the verdant valley. Welcome to the "jungle." A short "practice" zip starts you off. From then on begin to make your way down into the valley along longer zip-lines, with some of them 50 to 60 feet (15-18 meters) above the ground. There are a couple of tightrope walks to break up the zipping but for the most part this is all about the exhilarating fun of zipping from tree to tree.
Duration: 3.5 hours

Marigot - Orient Bay Beach Transfer: Leave the SeaDream pier at Marigot and enjoy a scenic drive of approximately 25 minutes before arriving at one of the island's most beautiful and well-known beaches, Orient Bay Beach. The transfer concludes at the conveniently located central section of Orient Bay Beach. Orient Bay is one of the nicest and longest beaches on the island, approximately 2 ½ km of golden sand bordering the Atlantic Sea. Located on the north eastern part of the island, it is certainly the most animated with all its watersports facilities. Spend memorable time at the beach.
