Named after where it was first set up, Karenge Bush Camp gets its name from the Kinyarwanda word for 'small footprint'. This means the camp tries hard not to harm nature and lets guests enjoy being in nature.
The main area has a dining tent, a small lounge, and a firepit outside. From here, guests can see the big Kilala Plains.
Only 12 guests can stay at a time, so it feels cozy and close to nature. The six tents have simple beds, chairs, and solar lights for reading at night. Each tent also has a private outdoor bathroom.
Karenge Bush Camp is open most of the year, except for April. It's a great place to stay along with a visit to Ruzizi Lodge in the park's southern area, giving guests a chance to see different parts of the park.
Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!
