Day 2: Gorilla Trekking

Start early with breakfast before transferring to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for your gorilla trekking briefing. Enter the misty forests of the Virunga mountains with expert trackers and hike through bamboo and dense vegetation in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. Trekking time varies depending on the gorillas’ location and terrain conditions.

Once you find them, spend one unforgettable hour observing the gorillas up close in their natural habitat—one of Africa’s most powerful wildlife experiences. After the trek, return to base and transfer back to The Bishop’s House for a late lunch. Relax at the hotel and enjoy dinner as you reflect on your extraordinary Rwanda safari adventure.

Day 3: Free Day

Spend a full day at leisure after breakfast at The Bishop’s House. Choose to trek gorillas again (permit fees apply), track endangered golden monkeys, or hike to Dian Fossey’s grave and gorilla cemetery. Explore Lake Kivu’s scenic beaches, take a guided walk to Lake Bulera, or visit the former Imbabazi Orphanage and flower plantation to learn about local culture.
