Atholl Palace Hotel occupies a Victorian Scottish Baronial building that opened in 1878 as the Athole Hydropathic and later became a hotel, welcoming guests for more than 130 years, including housing two schools during the World Wars. The estate also includes the separately located Manor House, built in 1871, and gardens developed since the hotel's construction in 1874 that have won prizes in the Pitlochry in Bloom competition, with specimen trees recognized as part of Perthshire's Big Tree Country. The hotel sits within parkland overlooking the Tummel Valley on the edge of Pitlochry. Its restaurant sources produce from local Perthshire suppliers where possible, uses fish and seafood from a certified sustainable (MSC) source, and serves fairtrade, organic tea, coffee, and sugar where available.
