Day 1: Lisbon, Portugal | Embark

The capital of Portugal since its conquest from the Moors in 1147, Lisbon is a legendary city with over 20 centuries of history. Spreading out along the right bank of the Tagus, its downtown, the Baixa, is located in the 18th-century area around Rossio. The Alfama, one of the oldest quarters in Lisboa, still retains much of its original layout since it largely survived the earthquake of 1755.

Day 2: Portimão, Portugal

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Portimão is the largest city in the western Algarve, and was traditionally a center for sardine fishing and processing. It makes a great base from which to explore the entire western Algarve. Two of the more popular trips are Lagos and Silves. Lagos was the center for Portugal’s 14th-century Age of Exploration and Silves served as the Algarve region's ancient capital and so the tourist attractions here reflect its rich and extensive history.

Day 3: Cadiz, Spain

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Cadiz, called ‘‘the cup of silver'', is almost African in appearance, its streets lined with palm trees, its churches topped with dome-like cupolas. Take advantage of optional tours to Seville, the irresistible capital and cultural center of Andalusia with its colorful and festive lifestyle.

Day 4: Tangier, Morocco

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Tangier was the real model for the famous American film "Casablanca" with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. It still retains its faded mongrel charm - not entirely Moroccan, European, or African but a heady mix of all three.

Day 5: Gibraltar, Great Britain

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory and headland, on Spain's south coast. It’s dominated by the Rock of Gibraltar, a 426m-high limestone ridge. The Cable Car is one of the ways to the "Top of the Rock" and a must-see attraction for all visitors to Gibraltar. The view is spectacular and you can watch the island's famous apes. A lesser-known wildlife attraction are the dolphins leaping in the sparkling waters of Gibraltar Bay. Whole families of dolphins visit the bay and the chances of seeing them are good.

Day 6: Puerto Banus (Marbella), Spain

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Located on the Costa del Sol of Southeast Spain, Puerto Banus is a beautiful Mediterranean playground of white-washed buildings and a marina filled with yachts. The marina was developed in 1970 and over the past four decades has become adored by jet-setters around the globe for its beauty and simplicity. Famous for its prominent visitors, nightlife, and luxury boutiques, this ‘Jewel of the Costa del Sol' is very much the place to see and be seen.

Day 7: Malaga, Spain

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Malaga's fortress palace of the Alcazaba and the Castillo de Gibralfaro are splendid examples of Moorish architecture. But it is in Granada that you can see the most romantic and magnificent expression of the Arabesque style in the glorious Alhambra Palace.

Day 8: At Sea

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner

Day 9: Cartagena, Spain

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
The city’s naval, maritime, and historical museums provide insight into the 2,000 years this city has been a major port. It’s now developing into a vibrant tourist attraction. The deep water harbor and walled town were used by Phoenicians, Romans, and Moors prior to the Spanish navy. Visit Torres Park and the Castle of la Concepción for the best views in the city.

Day 10: Ibiza, Spain

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Ibiza is a place where people hang out because, except for the medieval walls, you could almost think it was the Mediterranean's version of Key West. But away from the hustle of town, some lovely beaches await.

Day 11: Ibiza | La Sabina, Formentera, Spain

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
La Sabina is a port village on the island of Formentera and the island's only point of access. Once it was little more than a mooring area for fishing boats, it is now a marina with everything necessary for sailing lovers. You can easily take a trip around the island from here, stopping off at one of the often deserted stunning white beaches for a dip in the azure seas. Formentera is much quieter than its neighboring Ibiza and is definitely for those who like the gentler pace.

Day 12: Valencia, Spain

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Valencia is Spain's third-largest city and one of its most beautiful. Modern architecture sits side by side with magnificent historic buildings. The city also boasts a long, wide, soft sand beach. Make sure you enjoy The Paella, a very famous rice based dish which is complimented with shellfish as well as chicken and pork. There are many variations but whatever one you try it's sure to be excellent as Valencia is its birthplace.

Day 13: Terragona, Spain

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Terragona is home to Spain's second most important Roman site complete with mosaic-packed museums and a seaside amphitheater. There are many excellent restaurants to be found in the narrow alleyways around the medieval center. Visit El Serrallo, a typical fishing neighborhood where fresh fish is auctioned throughout the afternoon. The city is also renowned for its extremely fine golden sand beaches.

Day 14: Barcelona, Spain | Disembark

  • 1 Breakfast
The capital and cultural hub of the Catalonia region, Barcelona is Spain's second-largest city and one of the Mediterranean's busiest ports. The medieval atmosphere of the Gothic Quarter combined with mosaic-paved Ramblas make the city one of Europe's most beautiful. Art lovers delight in the Picasso Museum that features more than 3,800 works by the artist. Disembark after breakfast and continue your independent trip back home.

This was our first trip to South America and we were a little nervous. But Adventure Life made things so easy! All our questions were answered before we left, and our guide, Vidal, was amazing! He gave us enough space to explore without rushing us along. He also knew where the best picture taking opportunities were, which was great.
