Cycle through the forest and village around The Notary’s House at your own pace. The route passes paddy fields, buffalo, egrets, and rural households with seasonal crops. The ride takes 1–2 hours, and five cycles are available, subject to availability.
Coconut Tour
Visit the coconut plantation, where you can take a hand tractor ride (subject to availability) and taste fresh coconut drinks. Learn how to dehisce, crack, and scrape a coconut, extract coconut milk, and make a quick coconut sambol. The activity takes 1–2 hours.
Tuk Tuk experience around the hotel
Enjoy a Tuk Tuk ride around the hotel to explore the surroundings. The ride lasts about 30 minutes and is subject to availability, as there is only one Tuk Tuk at the property.
Garden to Table: Sri Lankan Cooking Experience
For 2-night stays, learn how to make a Sri Lankan curry in a 45-minute session, recommended during lunchtime. Meals are not included.
Guided Tour Option to Dambadeniya Citadel and Former Ancient Capital
Visit the ruins of the Dambadeniya citadel, Sri Lanka’s third capital after Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa, with much of it still buried in a large rock fortress. A short hike to the top provides views of the surrounding countryside. See the Wijesundararamaya, a well-preserved temple that once housed Buddha’s sacred Tooth Relic, now kept in Kandy. The visit can include a picnic breakfast on-site.
The trip might have been the absolute best of our lifetime (thus far). We particularly want to commend our guide Peter in the Guilin area-he was so incredibly attentive, energetic, enthusiastic-and absolutely dedicated to ensuring that our meals were 100% vegetarian.
