Gorilla Forest Lodge sits on a hillside overlooking the rainforest canopy and is the only lodge of its kind inside the park gates. This location keeps the drive to gorilla trek starting points to minutes. Bwindi is a UNESCO-recognized forest that rises above 2,590 m (8,500 ft) and is home to around 500 mountain gorillas in 12 habituated groups, along with 20 primate species. The lodge reopened in June 2025 after a full rebuild with a focus on sustainability. Suites use local building techniques in green, terracotta, and clay tones, and the banana-leaf wallpaper and beaded chandeliers are made by women from the nearby village.
Room & Suites
The lodge has standalone suites of 105 sq m (1,130 sq ft) each, set apart among the trees and accommodating a maximum of 20 guests in total. Each suite has full-length windows facing the forest, a private veranda with two hanging chairs, and a personal attendant. Every suite has a king-size four-poster bed, minibar, desk, telephone, and in-room safe, with electric blankets for cool evenings and yoga mats. Each guest receives Leica binoculars on arrival. The en-suite bathrooms have a large round bathtub with rainforest views.
