The Hotel Casa Anna is a charming Bed and Breakfast with 5 guest rooms (4 double room suites, 1 room with four beds) in Pueblo Garzón, Province of Maldonado. The 7,000 square foot brick building features 1920s architecture as well as locally made furniture and artwork. Casa Anna can be rented as a whole unit or as individual suites. A variety of activities await the traveler to this rustic inland destination, such as superb horseback riding, amazing opportunities for birdwatching, and delicious cooking classes.
Local artisans made the wrought-iron beds and the cabinets in the kitchen and living room at Casa Anna, while the stones on the fireplaces come from a nearby quarry. Photography by owner Mr. Summers, framed in pieces of salvaged lichen-covered fencing, hangs in almost every room.
A quiet town with gravel streets, Pueblo Garzón historically enjoyed a population boom as the first stop on a railway line built by the British between Rocha and Montevideo. Additional growth occurred when Route 9, the main road to Brazil, passed through the town. Now, the railways are long gone, and Rt.9 has been rerouted, leaving behind a small community. Enjoy splendid scenery, a small plaza filled with eucalyptus, acacia and palm trees, fine cuisine, and the gaucho character of this town in Uruguay’s countryside.

This was my first experience with Adventure Life - and I couldn't have been more pleased with the trip. The guides and local staff in both Buenos Aires and Uruguay were terrific - extremely helpful and accommodating. I really enjoyed meeting the friendly staff in Buenos Aires in person (I left my bags with them for the afternoon).
