Enjoy a visit to the famed Busanga Plains in northern Kafue National Park. Stay in the centrally located Shumba Camp, whose fig trees offer shade and whose guests regularly spots wildlife right from the main decks. The permanent watering hole attracts large prides of lion to the area, and each of the six safari tents offer impressive views of the plains. These upscale and spacious safari tents are situated on raised platforms and include en-suite bathroom facilites and outside showers. The camp offers a pool, fans, and and 6 large tents, one of which is a fantastic family room. While still intimate and offering a traditional safari camp experience, Shumba Camp offers the most comfortable stay in Kafue.
Enjoy game drives during the day and night drives to spot nocturnal species. Game that have been spotted in the region include puku, red lechwe, buffalo, wildebeest, and even cheetah, lion, or wild dog. Civet, owls, and the elusive leopard are often spotted on the night drives. Enjoy water-based safari activities such as boating and catch-and-release fishing when the plains are still flooded. Opt to take a hot air balloon ride from August to October for an aerial view of the plains below (available to guests staying for 3 nights or more). The birdlife is also prolific here, with over 491 species including kingfishers, heron, and storks.

The trip was terrific with great planning on your part. Most of the adventures were not mainstream and somewhat off the beaten path which made it especially enjoyable!! We felt taken care of and you all were readily available to respond to questions and issues. I would highly recommend your company and friends have already expressed interest based on our pictures and excitement.
