Day 1: Iquitos | Nauta | Embark | Marañon River | Nauta Caño

Upon arrival, get transferred by private vehicle to Nauta port for boarding. Enjoy a box lunch during the trip. Staff will guide you to your suite, which includes comfortable beds, Peruvian pima cotton sheets, bathrobes, air conditioning, and a private bathroom with a shower and amenities. Before departure, the bartender will serve a cocktail made with local fruits and pisco, Peru's national liquor. Enjoy it while taking in the river views from the observation deck or lounge.

Once the trip begins, naturalist guides will go over the itinerary, covering activities, routes, wildlife, vegetation, and regional geography and history. They’re available to answer any questions. After the welcome briefing, relax before heading out on skiffs to Nauta Caño for a nighttime excursion to search for alligators, tarantulas, frogs, and other nocturnal species.

Return to the ship for dinner. Enjoy a special Peruvian meal with an Amazonian twist, including vegetarian options. Inform staff of any dietary needs in advance.

Day 2: Marañón River | Yanayacu de Pucate | San Regis

In the early morning, head to the third deck of the ship to observe migratory birds in transit. Next, embark on a boat ride to the Yanayacu de Pucate area, one of the best-preserved sections of the Pacaya Samiria Reserve, where you’ll enjoy breakfast in the heart of nature. Before returning to the ship, take an optional kayak ride or swim in the refreshing black river waters.

Back on board, join a Peruvian cocktail demonstration by the bartender, followed by lunch. Afterward, relax as the guides discuss Amazonian philosophy.
In the afternoon, visit the San Regis native community to learn about their traditions and way of life. A local shaman will share insights into ancestral practices, with guides available to interpret and answer questions about spiritual beliefs and healing.

Afterward, participate in a tree planting ceremony as a positive environmental contribution. You’ll also have the chance to visit a small craft market where local women display handmade goods.

Return to the ship for time to relax with live music before dinner.

Day 3: Marañon River | Amazonian Natural Park | Nahuapa River

After breakfast you will start a walk through the jungle, followed by a canopy walk, which will allow you to admire the richness of the jungle from the top of the trees. At noon, we will return to the ship for lunch on board, after which we will have time to rest. It is important that you are present at the talk about the animals in the area that are in danger of extinction.

In the afternoon, you will begin your exploration by boat on the Nahuapa River. There you will experience fishing for the famous piranhas, using local equipment and techniques. Before returning to Zafiro cruise, you will make a night excursion in search of alligators, tarantulas, frogs, and other nocturnal species. Return to Zafiro, live music, and dinner.

Day 4: Marañon River | Casual | Amazon River

After breakfast, you will start a walk in Casual, in search of wildlife, such as poisonous frogs and other exotic species. In this area, you will see the well-known giant trees called Avatar and the "Victoria Amazonica" also known as Victoria Regia or water lilies, the largest aquatic plant on the planet. There you will also have the opportunity to purchase local handicrafts made by local women artisans. Before noon you will return to the ship where there will be a cooking demonstration by the executive chef.

After lunch, do not miss the talk about the origin of the Amazon, and then start an excursion to the confluence of the Ucayali and Marañón rivers, the place where these two rivers join, also known as the origin of the Amazon River. This area is very popular for watching the curious pink river dolphins. Return to the ship and have some free time until dinner.

Day 5: Marañon River | Nauta | Disembarkation | Iquitos

  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch
Before breakfast, you will visit Nauta, the second most important city in the region. Upon arrival, you will take a motorcar tour to the local market where you will learn first-hand what the commercial life of the city is like. Return to Zafiro for breakfast. After breakfast, you will proceed to disembark. On your way to the airport, visit Amazon Forever Bio Park, also known as Manatees Rescue Center, where biologists and volunteers care for manatees, an endangered species. Learn how manatees are treated and prepared for their return to their natural habitat. Likewise, other animals are also rescued, treated, and reinserted into their natural habitat. They actively collaborate with this dedicated organization and think tank. They invite you to do so as well and help this meaningful cause.

Transfer to the airport.

The trip might have been the absolute best of our lifetime (thus far). We particularly want to commend our guide Peter in the Guilin area-he was so incredibly attentive, energetic, enthusiastic-and absolutely dedicated to ensuring that our meals were 100% vegetarian.
