Day 1: Iquitos | Nauta | Río Amazonas | Embark

The guides will be expecting your arrival at the airport with a sign for your transfer to Nauta to board the cruise Amatista. As you enter your cabin, which will be fully equipped with everything you need, you will feel how this lifetime trip is about to start. The navigation will initiate in the Marañon River to the confluence of the Marañon and Ucayali rivers where the majestic Amazon begins. Take the time to go to the observation deck and enjoy the amazing panoramic view, the guides will be explaining the story of Amazon’s origin.

During the next days, you will be navigating through the Marañon and Ucayali rivers, then through the Amazon and its amazing confluences full of wildlife. After getting familiar with your new environment, you will be invited to the dining room for lunch, where you will experiment with exquisite regional gastronomy, a delicious flavor celebration. Later, the guides will provide a general briefing about the trip itinerary, activities, routes, wildlife and vegetation. The guides will be attentive to help you with any question you might have. After lunch on board, you will have an afternoon-night excursion for searching wildlife in the communal reserve of Yanayacu de Yacapana. During the excursion, you will observe the biggest water plant in the world (Victorias Regias), birds, lizards, sloths, beautiful pink dolphins, and other animals. At the end of the night, the guides will use the lanterns to locate caimans, owls, and capybaras. Upon returning, a reception with live music by the Ship Band awaits for you to enjoy the local music followed by a welcome dinner. Once dinner is finished, the guides will invite you to a lecture about the Amazon origins.

Day 2: Amazonas river | Yarapa river | Ucayali river | Vista Alegre | Piranha Creek

At dawn,  take a boat to go back, silently, to the Communal Reserve of Yanayacu de Yacapana and observe the beautiful Amazon birds that fill the bushy treetops: parrots, macaws, among many others. See sloths (lazy bears), iguanas, monkeys, and, of course, the pink and red dolphins which have made this place so popular. A true natural scenery of color and life in the heart of the rainforest

Day 3: Marañón river | Marayali | Pahuachiro | Casual

Once the excursion is finished return to the ship to have lunch on board. Later, there will be a trekking tour in the jungle, where you can learn about medicinal plants. Look out for exotic insects of the Amazon-like tarantulas, frogs, spiders, and a multitude of species never seen before. Before returning to the ship, the naturalists will teach you about basic survival in the jungle. Back on board, you will be welcomed with live music. Then, enjoy an exquisite dinner, it’s time to relax and appreciate the beauty of the Peruvian Amazon.
The early morning hours have a special feeling to connect with the rainforest and are a unique opportunity to do some birdwatching. On this third morning, a program for you is a boat outings before breakfast. This time, our destination will be the Marayali river stream, a privileged area for birdwatching numerous endangered species. Back aboard, a buffet breakfast will be served and will be followed by an exploration outing in the Pahuachiro area, another gem to appreciate Amazon biodiversity.
 

Day 4: Pacaya Samiria National Reserve| Marañón river

This morning, you will explore Yanayacu Pucate and enjoy a picnic breakfast in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve accompanied by nature. Some pink dolphins might enrich the panorama. Also, it’s possible to observe blue and yellow macaws, toucans, and different types of monkeys. Have a canopy walk where you will look for wildlife and enjoy the breathtaking view.
After an energetic breakfast, visit one of the local coastal families. They will share their traditions and culture with you. This once-in-a-lifetime experience will give you the opportunity to see life from another perspective. During lunch, the ship will start to sail on the Marañon River. In the afternoon, visit the Samiria Reserve to observe the Charapas turtles. Later at night, an excursion will be offered for searching wildlife in the Amazon. Back to the ship the naturalist guides will share more information and enrich the experiences of the day. You will be able to enjoy the local music followed by an exquisite dinner.

Day 5: Pacaya Samiria National Reserve / San Regis

In the morning, we will organize a fun picnic breakfast on the Yanayacu de Pucate River, one of the most protected and preserved areas of Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. This area is usually visited by pink dolphins and is ideal for small boats, so we will put kayaks at your disposal so you can live the experience of rowing in one of the most beautiful aquatic ecosystems in the world. Also, if you want, you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the river.

After lunch onboard a ceremony will be held with shamans in St. Regis will take place, where you will learn about the ancient secrets of the rainforest. Later, you will be part of the tree planting ceremony. Before dinner, a reception with live music will be held by the ship band. On a warm night, you can be part of the boat ride through Nauta Creek within Pacaya Samiria National Reserve which is known as the mirrored forest, which makes perfect sense as you gaze upon its glistening black water where you can observe lizards, frogs, and different kinds of nocturnal animals.

Day 6: San José de Zarapanga Shiriyucu | Nauta

Start off this morning with breakfast and then head on a boat expedition with destination to the Shiriyacu river stream. Once there look for the perfect spot for piranha fishing. Use local equipment and local techniques.
Back on the ship, we will have a lecture on techniques and tools for geographic orientation in the rainforest. If you prefer, you can take a rest until lunchtime.
 

Day 7: Iquitos | Disembark

After the buffet breakfast aboard, proceed to disembark in Nauta and head to Iquitos. Along the way, visit the Amazon Rescue Center (CREA), where biologists and volunteers take care of the animals that have been saved from illegal trafficking including the beloved manatees and the aquatic mammals, dangerously threatened by hunters.
