Day 1: Iquitos | Nauta | Embark | Marañon River | Nauta Caño

Your adventure begins in Iquitos with a scenic overland transfer to the port of Nauta, where your Amazon journey officially starts. During the drive, enjoy a boxed lunch before boarding and settling into the vessel. Once onboard, take in panoramic river views from the observation areas as the ship navigates the Marañón River. A welcome briefing introduces the days ahead, covering the region’s wildlife, geography, and cultural heritage.

In the evening, board a skiff and explore Nauta Caño during your first wildlife excursion. As darkness falls, watch the rainforest transform. With the guidance of expert naturalist guides, search for caimans, tarantulas, frogs, and other nocturnal creatures that emerge after sunset. This thrilling introduction to the Amazon sets the tone for the days ahead. Return onboard for a specially prepared dinner inspired by Peruvian and Amazonian flavors.

Day 2: Marañón River | Yanayacu de Pucate | San Regis

Start your morning by observing migratory birds from the upper deck as the rainforest awakens with light and sound. After breakfast, travel by skiff to Yanayacu de Pucate, one of the most pristine and protected areas within the Pacaya Samiria Reserve. Immerse yourself in the surrounding nature as mirror-like black waters reflect the sky and jungle canopy. Depending on conditions, kayak through calm waterways or swim in the refreshing river.

In the afternoon, visit the native community of San Regis and gain insight into Amazonian daily life and traditions. With the help of interpreters, learn about ancestral beliefs and spiritual practices from a local shaman. Take part in a symbolic tree-planting ceremony and contribute positively to the environment. Before departing, browse locally handcrafted goods created by community artisans. Return onboard for a relaxing evening with live music and dinner.

Day 3: Yanayacu De Pucate | Japanese Lagoon | Yanayaquillo | San Regis | Amazonian Natural Park

After breakfast, set out by skiff to explore a network of lakes and lagoons, culminating at the serene Japanese Lagoon, an excellent location for spotting pink river dolphins. Surrounded by untouched rainforest, enjoy a picnic-style experience while observing one of the reserve’s most carefully preserved ecosystems. Continue exploring nearby waterways, including Yanayaquillo, where wildlife sightings often include exotic birds, monkeys, and river creatures.

Back onboard, recharge before heading out again for a combined rainforest walk and canoe navigation within the Amazon Natural Park. This excursion offers close contact with the Amazon’s remarkable biodiversity, from towering trees to colorful insects and amphibians. Guides provide interpretation about ecological balance and Amazonian philosophy. In the evening, enjoy live music and a celebratory gala dinner, marking another memorable day deep in the jungle.

Day 4: Marañon River | Casual | Amazon River

Today begins with a guided rainforest walk in the Casual area, where you’ll search for wildlife such as vibrant poison dart frogs and other rare species. Marvel at giant “Avatar” trees and encounter the extraordinary Victoria Amazonica, the world’s largest aquatic plant. The walk provides a deeper understanding of plant life and forest ecology during the low water season, when trails are more accessible.

Later, return onboard before setting out to the dramatic confluence of the Ucayali and Marañón Rivers, the geographic birthplace of the Amazon River. This iconic meeting point is also known for sightings of pink river dolphins. Learn about the geological origins and hydrology of the Amazon Basin while absorbing sweeping river views. Enjoy a relaxing evening onboard as your journey nears its conclusion.

Day 5: Marañon River | Nauta | Disembarkation | Iquitos

  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch
Before breakfast, visit Nauta, the region’s second most important city. Travel by motocar through local streets to explore the bustling market, where vendors sell fresh produce, fish, and regional goods. This visit offers a firsthand look at daily commercial life in the Amazon and the flavors that define the region.

After returning for breakfast, disembark and travel toward Iquitos, stopping at the Amazon Forever Bio Park, also known as the Manatee Rescue Center. Here, learn how endangered manatees are rehabilitated and prepared for release back into their natural habitat. The center also cares for other rescued wildlife, emphasizing conservation and sustainability. After this meaningful visit, continue to the airport for departure, concluding your unforgettable Amazon expedition.

This was my first experience with Adventure Life - and I couldn't have been more pleased with the trip. The guides and local staff in both Buenos Aires and Uruguay were terrific - extremely helpful and accommodating. I really enjoyed meeting the friendly staff in Buenos Aires in person (I left my bags with them for the afternoon).
