Day 1: Iquitos | Nauta | Embark | Marañon River | Nauta Caño

Arrive at the airport and transfer by private vehicle to the port in Nauta for boarding. During the drive, enjoy a boxed lunch before stepping aboard the Zafiro. Settle into your comfortable suite and savor a refreshing cocktail prepared with regional fruits and Peruvian pisco.

Join an introductory briefing with your naturalist guides as they present the journey ahead. Learn about the geography, wildlife, and planned excursions while gaining valuable insight into the Amazon ecosystem and the immersive experiences awaiting you.

As evening falls, begin your first excursion with a skiff ride to Nauta Caño. Explore the rainforest after dark as your guides help you spot caimans resting along the riverbanks while frogs, insects, and other nocturnal creatures fill the jungle with sound. After this exciting nighttime adventure, return to the Zafiro for dinner and relaxation onboard.

Day 2: Marañón River | Yanayacu de Pucate | San Regis

Begin your morning peacefully with birdwatching from the ship’s upper deck as the Amazon awakens around you. Observe migratory and resident bird species while enjoying excellent opportunities for photography. Then continue your expedition by skiff into Yanayacu de Pucate, one of the most pristine and remote areas of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.

Enjoy breakfast outdoors in the heart of nature, surrounded by lush rainforest and calm blackwater channels. Paddle a kayak through the quiet tributaries or swim in the dark waters for a truly unique Amazon experience. Watch the still surface reflect the surrounding jungle like a mirror, creating breathtaking scenery.

In the afternoon, visit the riverside community of San Regis and discover Amazonian traditions, local beliefs, and everyday life in the rainforest. Take part in a symbolic tree-planting ceremony that supports conservation efforts and community involvement in protecting the forest. Browse handcrafted goods created by local women artisans before returning to the ship to relax and unwind with live music before dinner.

Day 3: Yanayacu De Pucate | Japanese Lagoon | Yanayaquillo | San Regis | Amazonian Natural Park

The expedition heads deeper into the reserve by skiff, exploring several hidden lakes and lagoons. One highlight is the Japanese Lagoon, a peaceful area known for frequent sightings of pink river dolphins. These intelligent mammals often surface near boats, providing a magical wildlife encounter in their natural habitat.
A picnic is enjoyed in this protected environment, surrounded by untouched rainforest and calm waters. The excursion continues toward the Yanayaquillo gorge, where the narrow channels and overhanging vegetation create an intimate setting for wildlife observation. Birds, monkeys, and reptiles are sometimes seen along the riverbanks during the navigation.

Later in the day, travelers visit the Amazonian Natural Park, combining a guided rainforest walk with canoe exploration through the flooded forest. In the evening, guests gather onboard for a cultural activity featuring the preparation of traditional Peruvian cocktails before enjoying dinner and relaxing on the river

Day 4: Marañon River | Casual | Amazon River

The day begins with a guided jungle walk in the Casual area, a location rich in biodiversity. Along the trail, guides highlight unique rainforest species including colorful poison dart frogs and remarkable trees such as the towering giant sometimes nicknamed the “Avatar” tree due to its massive size. Visitors may also encounter the enormous floating leaves of the Victoria Amazonica water lily, one of the most iconic plants of the Amazon basin.

Back on board the Zafiro, guests enjoy a demonstration by the ship’s chef showcasing the preparation of classic Peruvian cuisine.

In the afternoon, the expedition travels by skiff to one of the most significant geographical points in South America: the confluence of the Marañón and Ucayali Rivers. This meeting of waterways forms the official beginning of the Amazon River. The area is also known for frequent sightings of pink river dolphins swimming through the currents. The day concludes with scenic river views as the vessel continues its journey.

Day 5: Marañon River | Nauta | Florida Common Reserve | Pahuachiro

Early in the morning, the ship returns to Nauta where guests explore the vibrant local market by motocar, a popular three-wheeled vehicle used throughout the region. The market provides a glimpse into everyday life in the Amazon, where vendors sell fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, and traditional foods from the surrounding rainforest and rivers.

After returning to the ship and continuing the journey, travelers venture into the Florida Reserve for a guided nature walk. This protected forest area is home to a wide range of birds, amphibians, and insects. Towering mahogany trees and other native species dominate the canopy while guides explain the ecological importance of the rainforest and its many layers of life.

In the afternoon, the adventure continues to the Pahuachiro area. Guests explore the waterways by boat while enjoying sweeping views of the surrounding jungle. As sunset approaches, the sky reflects golden colors across the river, creating a peaceful moment to appreciate the vast Amazon landscape.

Day 6: Amazon River | San Joaquin de Omaguas | Yarapa River | Ucayali River

At dawn, travelers watch daily life unfold along the banks of the Amazon River. Local communities begin their routines, fishermen set out in small boats, and birds gather along the shoreline. After a buffet breakfast, the expedition heads into the dark waters of the Yarapa River by skiff, a location known for its rich wildlife and tranquil scenery.

As the boat glides through narrow channels, guides help identify monkeys, birds, reptiles, and other species hidden within the forest. The calm environment makes this area ideal for observing animals that thrive in the blackwater ecosystems of the Amazon.

Later in the day, guests visit the community of Paranapura. Residents share stories about their traditions, daily activities, and the challenges and opportunities of living within the Amazon region. Cultural exchange offers travelers a deeper understanding of local lifestyles closely connected to the forest and river.
After nightfall, another excursion takes place to observe nocturnal wildlife. Guides search for caimans, bats, frogs, and even tarantulas that emerge after dark. The jungle becomes alive with sounds, creating an unforgettable nighttime Amazon experience.

Before dinner, you can enjoy live music from the onboard band, featuring a varied repertoire of Amazonian, national, and international songs.

Day 7: Yarapa of Ucayali (Black Waters) | Yucuruchi | Amazon River (Origin)

The final full day of exploration begins with another journey along the Yarapa River. Early morning light reveals vibrant birdlife and active wildlife along the riverbanks. The peaceful atmosphere of the morning provides excellent opportunities for photography and quiet observation.

Later in the day after breakfast, the expedition reaches the Yucuruchi area within the Pacaya Samiria Reserve. Here travelers embark on a guided rainforest hike through dense jungle trails. Naturalist guides explain the complex relationships between plants, animals, and the surrounding ecosystem while pointing out medicinal plants and unique tree species that have supported local communities for generations.

Return to the ship for lunch at noon, followed by time to rest before the afternoon outing, a boat trip along the Amazon River in search of the curious pink dolphins and other species. As the sun sets over the water, the sky fills with vibrant colors, marking the final evening of the journey. A farewell dinner and presentation from the crew celebrate the experiences shared throughout the expedition.

Day 8: Disembark in Nauta Port | Transfer to the airport

  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch
After breakfast, guests disembark. Along the way, the group visits the Amazon Forever Bio Park, widely known as the Manatee Rescue Center. This conservation facility works to rehabilitate orphaned and injured Amazonian manatees with the goal of releasing them back into the wild.

During the visit, guides explain the threats facing these gentle aquatic mammals and the important conservation efforts underway to protect them. Visitors also learn about other rescued wildlife and the environmental education programs that support Amazon conservation.

Following the visit, travelers continue to the airport for their onward flights, concluding an unforgettable journey through one of the most remarkable ecosystems on the planet.
